Our splendid tradition to take monthly walks in the Cotswolds continued in the Autumn . This time we started our season with a walk in the Forest of Dean .

On September 20th , we went for a walk to May Hill ( distance 8.3 km , elevation gain 259m ). Since the pub was closed that day , we had a picnic on the hill . The weather was superb and the views breath-taking . |

May Hill is one of the most familiar landmarks in the east of the Forest of Dean . At 296 metres , it is one of the highest hills in the area , with a prominent near circular mound and a crowning clump of trees that make it easily identifiable from far away . |

There are views from the top for many miles in all directions and on a clear day it is said you can see between 8 and 12 counties . Its summit is on the western edge of Gloucestershire and its northern slopes in Herefordshire . |
The next walk took place on the 5th of October to the beautiful Malvern Hills . The first part of the walk was a loop of British Camp and then we took some hills of the Malverns . We were lucky with the weather again ! Only a frantic wind trying to blow us away from time to time ! Despite the steep slopes , everyone was in a great mood and enjoyed the stunning views .
This time we even managed to enjoy a traditional after-walk-lunch together at the pleasant , The Malvern Hills Restaurant ( Distance : 6.5 km , elevation gain : 292 m ).
Cultural visit to Tewkesbury by Theonie Vogopoulou
On the 4th of October 2021 , spouses of the ARRC Social Club went to visit Tewkesbury Abbey and city ( only a 25 minute drive from Innsworth ). It was the first visit after the Summer holidays .
We all had the opportunity to visit the abbey , which is located in the middle of the town , and is the main attraction in Tewkesbury . The architecture is beautiful with stained glass windows and ornate ceilings in the interior .
Then we had a stroll around the town . Tewkesbury has a beautiful waterside setting , medieval streets and a traditional high street full of independent shops . As is tradition on these visits , we enjoyed a light snack at a café in the town .
It was a pleasant day to visit a beautiful waterside town with a rich , vibrant history .
