EXPERIMENTATION AND INNOVATION
Project ARTEMIS is designed to increase the tempo of decision making and targeting processes , through a combination of technical , procedural , and cultural change . Working alongside industry partner Anduril Inc ., HQ ARRC has delivered cutting edge Artificial Intelligence software and tools to integrate multi-domain capability in the land environment .
“ There will be activities in air , space , the cyber arena , and the maritime domain , so we ’ ve got to be prepared to plan and execute our operations much faster ,” explains U . S . Army Brigadier General Phil Brooks , ARRC ’ s Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations .” The ARTEMIS technology demonstrator utilises Anduril ’ s LATTICE software to provide a live feed across the area of operations ( AO ), identification and tracking of red force targets and provides the HQ with blue force options to deal with the identified threat . The aim is to significantly increase the tempo of decision making and targeting yet keep a human within the entire loop . Overall , the experimentation proved positive results and gained wider interest from our NATO allies .
Project LELANTOS is centred upon delivering a rapid Command and Control ( C2 ) capability that is highly manoeuvrable and hard to be seen . It aims to reduce C2 build and deployment time from hours to minutes therefore affording agile C2 During Ex STLE 21 , the evolved Project LELANTOS was successfully utilised as the Tactical CP on Bydgoszcz Airfield .
Industry partners from IDE and Marshall visited the exercise to support the sustainable power experiment
Engineering and Civil Military Interaction ( ECMI ) led on the Deployed Sustainable Power experiment . This is a five-year project aiming to make the Corps more resilient through changes in power planning and equipment - driving down the use of traditional power delivery methods , harnessing the military ’ s ability to use hybrid-power supplies ( a mix of fuel generators with batteries and renewables ) and increasing the HQ ’ s survivability by reducing its heat , noise and logistic footprint .
It is a data-driven project focusing on data collection and analysis ; however , it also enables demonstrations on current and emerging technologies in support of capability development . On Ex STLE 21 the trial of a hybrid generator in the Forward CP provided continuous energy to critical facilities in true silent operation mode as well as achieving increased utilisation and improved fuel efficiency .
Organisational Learning Portal supports the U . K .’ s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory development of an artificial intelligence lessons collection portal . The initiative helps deliver an AI interview virtual assistant used to speak to individuals within the headquarters , to capture and interrogate lessons identified from the exercise .
