Allied Rapid Running Club – summer update !
Capt . Jonathan Cooke , Engr & CIMIC Who are we ?
The Allied Rapid Running Club is a joint station running club , open to all units , all nations , and all abilities ( don ’ t be put off by the name !). To date we have had representatives of 9 nations race and train with us , as well as all Imjin Station Units … but we are always looking for new members !
Inter-Unit Cross Country Championships Success !
The first Cross Country season since merging the station teams and rebranding has seen a host of successes , including :
Masters ’ Team : Inter-Unit Runners Up 2023-24 Lt Col Mawer ( PAO ), Maj Preisinger ( Engr & CIMIC ), Col Moreland ( Comd Gp )
Women ’ s ’ Team : Inter-Unit and League Champs 23-24 Lt Carlyon- Moores , Maj Gibbs ( G7 ), Maj Jacka ( AOCC ), Sgt Brown ( CS )
UK South Cross-Country League end of season results :
Capt . Taylor proudly holds the women ’ s trophy , as the whole team receive medals !
Athletics
Members of the Allied Rapid Running Club took on the gruelling ‘ Africana ’ run by the Spanish Legion in Melilla , Spain . The race saw members of the ARRC take on a 50km hilly mixed terrain course in North African climate ! All the ARRC team came in comfortably ahead of the 10hour cutoff and enjoyed a relaxing day at the beach to celebrate before returning !

The summer season will see the Allied Rapid Running Club enter the Inter-Unit Athletics Champs in June but has already seen the Inter-Unit 10km champs and the Fleet Half Marathon , as well as several local races .
The Inter-Unit 10kms went well , with the team coming in a close second to an incredible strong team from 1RSME .

What ’ s next ?
The team is always looking for new members from across the station . Looking forward into next term , the team is also hoping to compete in Trail walker and compete strongly again in the UK South Cross-Country league from September . When not racing the team can be found training together on Wednesdays for sports afternoons with a mix of social running and interval sessions , and a Monday night social ‘ club run ’.

New kit
As a parting gift to the Club , founding member Cpl Jamie Hawthorne ( now departing HQ ARRC to attend the Commissioning Course at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst ) organised an excellent new team strip to reflect the ‘ joint ’ nature of the Station team .
Members of the Club proudly wear their new running vests at the ‘ Cleeve Cloud Cuckoo ’, where they placed third against some large and established local running clubs !
