The following year he and his management invited me back to the class and I brought in a new song called “One Moment”. Over the course of the class Gino pushed me out of my comfort zone and worked me harder than anyone has ever before to get the most out of my tune and performance.
Come the Fall of 2014, we started talking about my career and a new album. He agreed to produce the album. I’ve recorded several demos and Gino has been listening to them, taking notes and giving feedback. His enthusiasm has only given me more encouragement and we’re both really excited about getting into the studio and recording something really special.
To fund the new album you have chosen to involve your fans and set up a Kickstarter campaign, can you please tell us a bit about it and how can your fans help?
Yeah recording an album is a huge undertaking and an expensive one. Working with a Grammy-nominated producer, that takes a bit further. As an independent artist and no record company behind me, I have to get creative with where my funding comes from. By doing a Kickstarter, you guys become like a record company, and even better we get to go on this journey together!
By becoming a backer of the Kickstarter, you will get exclusive behind-the-scenes content. There are tons of great packages that include autographed CDs, t-shirts, posters, photo book, hand-written lyrics and an autographed guitar! There’s something for everyone!
You can check out the Kickstarter and become a backer at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/758739782/new-jamie-alimorad-album-produced-by-gino-vannelli.
Do you have a name for the album yet and should we expect something completely different from your two previous albums?
I don’t have an album yet, but I actually have a cool concept for an album cover that I came up with while at the New England Aquarium. I can’t get into too much detail right now, but seeing the schools of fish and thinking about the Kickstarter got me thinking and it’s given me a concept idea; one that I believe goes great with this album.
A while back you were involved with a project called Sea3on Animated about the comic Sonic the Hedghog, are you still involved with this?
Sea3on is on the backburner right now. This project is an unbelievable labor of love for everyone involved, but then comes all the legal work and red tape. The producers of the series have had their hands full with SEGA and they’re kind of in a holding pattern at the moment. I actually spoke with one of the guys last week and they are still working really hard on making it a reality. In the mean time, you can read the Sea3on Comic at http://satamsonic.com.
I know you are very busy right now, however when you do get some leisure time, what do you like to do? How do you like to relax?
I’m a big video game player and will usually kick back with my Wii U. Recently I’ve been playing Hyrule Warriors, Smash Bros., Mario Kart 8 and Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. I’m really looking forward to Mario Party 10 too! Multiplayer madness!
You also know that I’m a big Red Sox fan. Nothing like watching a game and I love going to other parks and watching a game that I don’t have rooting interest in. I want to go to all 30 Major League stadiums.
Do you have any shows coming up in the near future?
With the album’s schedule up in the air I have to leave my calendar open, but I do have a performance at the National Cherry Blossom Festival in DC on Wednesday April 8th. I’ve had the pleasure of playing the Festival twice and I can’t wait to get back.
Apart from the new album what else can we expect from JAMIE ALIMORAD? What are your future goals?
I say expect the unexpected. I want to do things differently with this album. Not just in the sense of how it was done before, but I want to think outside the box. I want to bring it to you in new ways. I want it to be exposed in a different light.
We’re in exciting times and we’re ready for something new. Listening to music used to be an experience. With this album, I want that sensation to overtake you and for you to get lost in the music, in the experience.
I have big goals for this album and will push it to the max! Join me on this journey and watch it come together! It’ll be a lot of fun!
