The Humanitarian new newsletter | Page 2

WELCOME to our first Newsletter, WORDS FROM DOLLIN HOLT CAPRECON FOUNDER The Humanitarian. We thought this might be a better way of telling our stories, and getting our message across to you. Aptly named, it is emerging at a time of unmitigated human suffering and unimaginable                       displacement of populations, exemplified by the millions trapped in conflict zones; in extreme poverty, and the current refugee flows that is posing a critical challenge to humanitarian efforts; and         stretching it to its limits. We are witnessing a crisis of epic proportions; arguably the worst refugee and migration crisis since the end of WW2.  So in this maiden edition we will be showing how we stood in solidarity with the many men, women and children who have become homeless and rendered destitute by violent conflict, war, oppression, extreme   poverty and deprivation. We will be demonstrating how we added our voice to the outcry over those left stranded at borders; having been refused entry, and how we remembered and bore witness to those who perished at sea, in their desperate efforts to seek a better life. We are witnessing a crisis of epic proportions; arguably the worst refugee and migration crisis since the end of WW2. Similarly, we will be exploring issues affecting Internally  Displaced Persons. These are individuals or groups of people fleeing persecution or other forms of repression, but are still within the borders of their countries. Sadly, their stories are seldom in newspapers and electronic    media. We will be focusing particularly on Nigeria, where large numbers of people fleeing the scourge of Boko Haram, including children, end up in makeshift camps. Their situation epitomises that of refugees who have fled their countries. They experience despondency, despair, trauma, frustrations, hopelessness and depression that are prevalent in most refugee camps. In this edition, also, we would be telling you about some changes and existing developments within Caprecon. This would include activities and projects that have been completed, are on-going and upcoming. And what is more, some of our volunteers and beneficiaries will be telling you exciting and uplifting stories about their experience with us. This will be titled: My Journey with Caprecon.  And finally, we would be updating you with the differences made to the lives of the beneficiaries of previous projects and events.
