After 25 years, a museum named for autoworker Joseph Chimczuk has finally opened, becoming Windsor’s latest downtown attraction. The 11,000-square-foot Chimczuk Museum was officially opened in February and began welcoming visitors immediately. The Chimczuk Museum occupies the main floor of 401 Riverside Drive West, while the Art Gallery of Windsor occupies floors two and three. Funding sources for the project included the Government of Canada’s Canada Cultural Spaces Fund, the bequest of Joseph Chimczuk, and the remainder from the City of Windsor’s Capital Budgets. The new museum will fall under the “Museum Windsor” brand which also encompasses the François Baby House and the Interpretive Centre at the Duff-Baby House in Sandwich.
