Inside Out
Roof Model 1 and The Link
Ground Floor Glass Tower First Floor
Roof
Layer Model
Now clear on the expectations of my design, I
wanted to put this into practice in my 3D working
model. Focussing just on the interior design of
The House I started by dividing up the ground
floor, influenced by the development of the colour
model and visualisation of the entrance. The
glass tower was then added to the model, from
which I could build the First floor around. It was
at this point I also decided to integrate a first floor
balcony, that would wrap around the south and
west sides of the building, allowing the space to
feel more connected, and creating a horizontal dialogue
between The House and Grandmas House
across the water. The roof was crafted piece by
piece, a further development of my initial
archetypal house models, but his time all of the
forms linked together.

The Link
Contemporary Influence
Naturally at this point the link started to develop.
Initially intrigued by contemporary examples of
bridges, such as Thomas Hetherwick's Rolling
bridge and the Twin Sails bridge at Poole, I liked
the idea of movement and transition. Through
research and analysis of the aforementioned
bridges, I developed three conceptual starting
points from which I would design my link. Fig 5 - Rolling Bridge, Thomas Hetherwick (2002)
