How do you know that Boaz is the right type of man for you? Sometimes when I hear this type of request I wonder, just what do they know about Boaz. Well, let’s take a quick look. Boaz means strength. He was a wealthy man who lived in Bethlehem. You remember that little town where Jesus was born. Boaz found Ruth (a widow) at work in his fields. She was gleaning the barley/wheat that was left on the stalk in order to feed herself and Naomi, her mother-in-law. Boaz was observant, caring and compassionate. Boaz was also honorable and adhered to Jewish traditions in pursuing his options with respect to marrying Ruth (a Moabite). According to Jewish customs, another relative actually had the first opportunity to exercise his right to marry Ruth. Boaz was not next in line, but he was persistent and he did it the right way. Is a Boaz man right for you? Read Ruth Chapters 2-4. The Bible has a myriad of examples of Biblical husbands other than Boaz. What if God’s idea of ideal for you is Abraham, a man who walked with God before and after his name change? Abraham is a man who God calls friend. He is family oriented and placed the desires of and what was best for others above his own (Lot). Abraham exhibited a high degree of confidence and faith in God. Abraham was not perfect, but he was patient. He waited on the promise of God. God fulfilled his covenant with Abraham and made him the father of many nations. Abraham found and loved Sarah from Genesis 11:29 (when they were Abram/Sarai) through Genesis 17:5-15 (when God changed their names) through Genesis 23:1 when Sarah died at 127 years old (27 years after bearing Isaac, the son of God’s covenant promise). Abraham was not perfect, but he sounds like given the right circumstances, he could be a keeper. How about Moses? Moses was an author, a leader of few words (this is definitely a plus ?), who placed his confidence in God. He was a deliverer. Moses was entrusted to the Egyptians so that his life might be spared in order for him to return to his people (the Hebrews) as God’s answer to their prayers. Moses fled his Egyptian home (yes he was running from the law), to Midian where he earned the respect of Jethro, a Midianite Chieftain. Moses also earned the hand of Jethro’s oldest daughter, Zipporah. Through this union, Moses was introduced to God. Moses stood in the presence of God, heard His voice with his own ears and in his own heart. Moses even got a glimpse of Him. God confirmed what Moses had always thought, he was different. God trusted Moses with all of Israel. Moses was a man with a past that God had prepared for a purpose. Moses’ story begins at Exodus 2:1. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a Boaz man; however what if God has prepared an Abraham or Moses for you? What if theirs are the characteristics and strengths of your husband? Will you be able to recognize him if you are expecting or looking for someone else? Lastly, what if God has prepared or given you an Adam (my favorite)? Adam was the first man. He was created by God himself from the dust of the earth. According to the Bible, God created Adam in His image (Genesis 1:27). Adam was endowed with the character of his Father and made in His likeness. God breathed the breath of life (now that is personal) into Adam and he became a living soul. God was in daily fellowship with Adam and He gave him dominion and authority over everything that He had created. As we look closely at the creation story, we can clearly see that all God created was with Adam in mind. Adam was God’s masterpiece, yet God found him incomplete (it was not good for Adam to be alone). God placed him in a painless sleep and took from him a rib. Around this rib God formed his wife and He brought her to Adam, so that he would not be alone and would have someone to Kendra Chatmon Owner/designer 240.300.4953 walk with him and beside him (a hel ???????)????????????????????????????????????)???????????????????????????????????)??????????!??????????????????????)???????????q????????????t?????????????)???????????????????!????????????L??????(????]?????????????????????????)????????????Q???????????????????)????????????????????????????????)????????????????????????????????)??????????Q??? ???????????????)???????????????? ?????????????$??????)?????????!????????????????????)??????????????????????????? ?????)]?????????????????????????????????)????????????????????? ???????????)??????????]??????????????????)?????????????????????????????????????)???M??????????????????????)????????????????????????????????)?????????????????????????????????)????????????????e???????????????????????????????????????????????)]????$??????????????????????????????)?????$??????????????????????)??????????????????$????????????]???????)??????????????????????????????????????)$?????????????????????????????????)????????????????????????$????????)?????????????????????????qQ??????)????????????????????????????????????)????????????????????????????????????)?????????????t??????????)M??????????? ??????????5???)????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????)?????????Q??????????????????????)???e??????????????????????!???????????)???????9????????????!????????e?)?????????!?????????????????????????????)??????????????????????????????)?????????????????????????????????)??????????????e?????????????????)??????10????????????????????????)??????????????????q]??????????????)???????????????????????]?????????)??????????????????????????????????)???????t?5?????????((0
