is called spawning. Later the males
come by to make their sperm deposit
to fertilize the eggs. The adult salmon eventually die; their life cycle has
ended.
Fishing was in the ‘spotlight’ too,
as day two of our outdoor adventure
produced some tasty perch that just
filled the bucket. It was not quite
enough for a great fish story, but just
enough for a nice meal.
We got to see abundant wildlife:
birds, deer, and squirrels. We would
have liked the rare chance to see a bear,
but we were unable to do so, maybe
next time.
The campsite fireplace was lit and
we enjoyed our supper, cooked on
an open fire pit. One menu included
my recipe for ‘hogies.’ It consists of
chopped-up potatoes, carrots, onions,
apples, sausage links, some seasoning,
and butter. This gets wrapped up in
aluminum foil and cooked over the
fire for about an hour. Cooking time
depends on how hot your fire is. I find
this to be a very tasty camp-out meal,
especially when enjoyed out in nature’s
wonderland, the great outdoors.
Our cabin, at night’s end, was filled
with many tales of enjoyable outdoor
memories.
We adventured through just a
small portion of nature in God’s beautiful county. What was planted in our
minds will never be forgotten. It will
provide memories for years to come.
Priceless!
Get away for a while. Have an
adventure for yourself with the opportunities and experiences the land
provides to you. It just does something
to a person. I highly recommend these
types of activities for everyone.
