Sports Scoop ... cont. from 27 Everyone got along so well so we were always having fun,” said Schwartz. The team had many skills this season but were best on the offensive side of the ball. Senior, Skyler Carpenter, had many outstanding offensive games that blew other teams out of the water. “Our combination passes we put together and attacking quickly on offense were the best parts of our team this season,” said Schwartz. Now that the season is over, it’s a time for reflection. “I will miss just being with the team,” said Schwartz. “We bonded so well and we honestly had a blast together. It was definitely one of the most fun soccer seasons.” Schwartz is unsure of how good next year’s team will be. “Losing the seniors will hurt us but it just depends on what the up-coming freshmen bring to the field. I think we have potential to be pretty decent.” Next season is still up in the air, so it should be exciting to see what direction the team will head. “It will be my senior year next season so it will be exciting. But I’m just interested in seeing what the up-coming freshman will bring to the team.” Westview Volleyball The volleyball team is still playing as of Saturday, October 22nd. They have a bye in the first round of sectionals. They will be playing Bremen High School on the 22nd. “We have a good chance of going to regionals. However, it all depends on the game against Bremen. We play them and if we win, we will either play Central Noble, who we have beaten, or Prairie Heights. Either game will be close and we will have to play our best to make it to regionals,” said junior Kelsey Carmack. The volleyball program hasn’t been the strongest over the past few years but this year seems to be righting the ship. “We have a better record than last year. “Our team has had positive mental attitudes and there hasn’t been any drama.” Also, Carmack said that the best part of this season has been “being able to play at a higher level.” Team chemistry is another reason for the program turnaround. “We all got along really well so it was a fun season. It helped us have better communication during the game,” said Carmack. The team also had better skills than in years past. “Our blocking and our serves became more aggressive as the season went on, as well as hustling and diving for balls,” said Carmack. Next season, the team will be losing quite a few seniors. They will have to rely on different players to step up. “Candice Chupp will be a key for next year. She has been doing really well on passing and getting her hands on a lot of balls. Rachel Johns also, she is very enthusiastic,” said Carmack. Next season will be another test for the Warrior volleyball program that coach Brohm is leading. “We’ll be missing three seniors, two of which are big blockers and key hitters for us. However, we’ll have five seniors and seven returning letter winners who can bring up their intensity,” said Carmack. With that kind of experience, only wins should follow.
