Warrior Boy's Track
The Warrior Boys track team has experienced
some tough times this season as they have a losing
record at the moment. “Our team has lack of depth
and the lack of solid sprinters besides Dom Hunter,”
said senior Geoff Marcum. “We have to make the best
of our situation. It doesn’t help that we have only
fifteen guys on the team, but we make up for it with
good team spirit and unity.”
One of the team’s sprinters from last year, Max
Laughlin, has been struggling with a pulled hamstring
injury most of the season.
The team is evenly distributed this year as each
grade has right around four members. Trey Kennedy
has made quite an impact this year as he has brought
his talents to the team. He has jumped 13 feet this year
as a freshman pole vaulter. The only athlete to jump
higher than that is sophomore Nate Raber who has
jumped 13½ feet. Raber also won the Goshen relay
pole vault while Trey Kennedy got second place.
At the Indoor State Championships the distance
medley team won their event. Members include Nic
Raber, Dom Hunter, Antonio Castillo, and Kyle Baker.
“Teamwise, we will have our 4x800 team make it out of
sectionals without doubt. Coach Baker and the team
have the goal of the team making it to state. I expect
they will reach that goal,” said Marcum.
