March 2011 Phone: 260-463-4901 • Fax 888-439-6528 • The Hometown Treasure Westview Art Students Complete Mural At Local Business Every year, the members of the National Art Honor Society have a goal to complete at least one activity that will help bring artistic awareness to the local community. This year, Kara Parish and Levi King, approached the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) to complete a mural that would be on display at the Kitchen Cupboard in the heart of the Davis Mercantile in Shipshewana. All members were asked to come up with a design that represented a landscape. The designs were then submitted to the owners to make the final decision. The design selected was created by junior Amanda Meadows who came up with a unique take on a landscape design. The group as a whole spent one day working on the mural, but lead designer, Amanda Meadows spent countless hours finishing up the intricate design within the cup, with other members popping in and out as they could to help out. According to Westview Art teacher Jesse Martin, “The kids did a great job of helping out throughout all stages of the mural process and seemed to really enjoy working on the project ... the coffee and pretzels were only an added perk to their motivation.” All the Westview Boys Basketball games live at Lagwana.com!
