Westview Girl Champions
Girls Track Named NECC Champions
The Westview Girls Track team
captured its third straight Northeast
Corner Conference championship in
May with an impressive display of
talent on the Churubusco track. Skyler
Carpenter was especially impressive
as she contributed four first place
finishes. In the process, Carpenter set
three records. Skyler broke her own
meet record in the 100 meter hurdles
with a time of 14.52 seconds, .42
seconds faster than her record-setting
time last year. Her second record was
garnered in the 300 meter hurdles race
as she finished with a time of 43.26
seconds, eclipsing her previous meet
record of 43.37 seconds. Her final record setting performance came in the
200 meter dash finishing with a sparkling time of 24.96 seconds, breaking
her former record of 25.27, set last
year. Skyler also finished first in long
jump with a leap of 17 feet 2¾ inches.
Westview star trackster, Mandy
Jones, who will be heading to Indiana
State to run track for the Sycamores
next year, finished second in the 100
meter dash, but in the process reinjured her hamstring ending her high
school track career.
Jeslyn Zimmerly finished with a
blue ribbon and tied her own conference record, set last year in the pole
vault event, with a vault of 12 feet
even.
