4/25/2011 - The street cut on the 700 north side
asked for by Century Link was approved. The company
wants to plant a “fiber optic.” They want to get started
right away so they will not interfere with construction
in the same area.
Forks County Line Store will be closing in Topeka
on May 15th. Construction for the new Save A’ Lot store
will be happening the same day. The new owner will
be making small changes to the building. The south
wall will be removed in order to square the building.
The employee policy for Topeka was once again
revisited. Sick days will increase from two days a year,
to five days per year. The sick days will increase by five
days for every year the person continues to work at
the same business. The sick days will accumulate until
twenty are present.
Topeka also passed a new snow removal ordinance.
It is the exact same as the LaGrange and Rome City
ordinance. A fee will be issued to the person that lets
their snow accumulate in the road in front of their
home.
The town of Topeka put an ad in the paper for
a used police vehicle. However, no one called about
the car. There will be a deadline put on the sale of the
car. The ad will run for two more weeks in the paper.
There are possible plans to put the car in an auction.
The Habitat for Humanity house is all set to go.
