35 charcoal briquettes
Sprinkle cinnamon over top.
Cover with lid.
Line a 6 qt. cast iron Dutch oven
with aluminum foil

Separate coals into 2 piles.
Dump 2 cans of your
favorite pie filling in dutch oven
Place Dutch oven on top of 1 pile
of charcoal
Top with box of yellow cake mix
Cut up 1 stick of butter and
drop on top of cake mix
Place remaining charcoal on top
of lid.
Takes about 1 hour

2011 Westview graduate and Huntington University student, Kristin
Steider , received her award packet on
June 6 at the LaGrange County Community Foundation offices in LaGrange
for the HOPE (Healthcare Opportunity
Professional Excellence) Scholarship
from local businesswomen and donor representative, Marty Hayward.
Steider just completed her freshman
year toward a Bachelor’s of Science
degree in nursing and will use the $500
award toward her continuing studies.
Steider’s career plans include permanent residency as a surgical nurse
in this area. Marty Hayward is the
daughter of the late Margaret Martin,
who created the endowment for the
HOPE scholarship at the Community
Foundation twelve years ago to encourage students of all ages with healthcare
experience to pursue a career in nursing.
Retired Westview
Teacher Honored
Retired Westview teacher, Dennis Sewell, has been honored by the
Indiana Retired Teachers Association
for his community service for the year
2011. Mr. Sewell volunteered in Mrs.
Kramer’s classroom at Topeka Elementary School twice a week. He also
volunteered at the Parkview LaGrange
Hospital. The Indiana Retired Teachers’
Association reached over one million
volunteer hours last year.
