Annual Gingerbread House
Contest Winners Named
Marcia Leer and Deniese Rickel
of Orland, Indiana received first place
honors in Shipshewana’s sixth annual Gingerbread House Contest. The
mother and daughter team won for the
second year in a row and were awarded
$500 for their effort. Natasha Luston
of Osceola, Indiana received second
place and a $250 prize. Third place and
a $150 cash prize went to Vickie Short
of Shipshewana. All entries had to be
made completely of edible materials.
According to Shipshewana Retail
Merchants spokesperson, Susan
Hendrickson. It’s not too late to get
involved in the contest. A People’s
Choice winner is yet to be determined.
Visitors to the gingerbread house
display, at the Yoder’s Shopping Center,
may vote for their favorite entry with
pocket change. The donations will
benefit the Shipshewana Ministerial
Association. The houses will remain
on display through December 31
inside Yoder’s Shopping Center in
Shipshewana.
