fully this new offensive style will lead
to more victories.
With Carpenter and Zimmerly being the only seniors, they have a lot on
their shoulders. They are making sure
they are setting an example for their
younger teammates to follow. “On the
court, we are trying to lead them in
scoring. Off the court, we are patient
and try working with them. Everyone is
trying really hard, so you can’t get mad.”
The team’s upcoming schedule
has the Lady Warriors playing Angola,
Fremont, and Lakeland. This is an
easier part of the schedule that they
can pick up wins if they play well. “I
expect us to start winning more games
in the second half of the season. I also
expect us to put two solid halves together,” said Carpenter. Hopefully the
girls squad will keep continuing their
winning ways and become a contender
when sectional time rolls around.

athletics,
you are
probably
familiar
with the
name Adrian Brandenberger. He has
been a part of the Westview soccer and
basketball teams for his entire four
years in high school. He’ll also be on
the baseball team for his fourth year
this spring. Brandenberger has been a
part of sectional championship teams
in every sport he has participated in.
As much as sports have been a part of
Brandenberger’s life over the past four
years, there is a lot more to the kid.
Brandenberger is the guy in high
school that you can hear in the hallway
from a mile away. When you hear him,
he is probably telling a funny story
from one of his many crazy adventures
with his friends. Either that, or he is
telling someone about the forty point

buck he just killed with his compound
bow. Brandenberger is known by his
friends and even acquaintances as the
“hunting guy.”
If you have ever spent time with
Brandenberger, you would see that
his personality is one that is hard to
match. Yes, you can tell that he is a
typical guy from around this area. He
enjoys going fishing, hunting, and four
wheeling. He also loves listening to his
favorite country music artists such as
Jason Aldean, Brantley Gilbert, Luke
Bryan and Eric Church. He even has a
secret aspiration to meet Carrie Underwood. However, Adrian is one of those
rare student-athletes that has a truly
gravitating personality that makes
everyone want to be his best friend.
Playing basketball is a commitment at Westview. It takes a special
person to endure the pressure and demand that putting on a Warrior jersey
possesses. “The support from my family and the fans is what has made me
stick with basketball this long,” said
Brandenberger. “The high intensity of
the fans makes it all worthwhile.”
During his time in high school, he
points to one thing that he has enjoyed
most while playing sports. “The build
up and preparation before big games
is what I really like. And of course the
rewards after you win.”
There is one catch to playing high
school sports; you are a student athlete.
This is one aspect of high school Brandenberger and most other students do
not like. “I don’t like to do any work in
class ... like at all,” he said. Still he has
performed well enough during high
school that he’ll be attending college
next fall. He is planning on attending IPFW University to major in either
business management or something in
the agricultural field. In ten years he
sees himself buying a house and getting
married. “I don’t know if I want kids or
not, at least not right now,” said Brandenberger, “but I want a super hot wife.”
Brandenberger’s time at Westview
has only got about one semester left.
He is happy to be moving on with his
life but says, “Live life. Make memories
and enjoy high school while it lasts.”
