The team has had some trouble executing their half court offense so far this season according to Carpenter. She also feels like they need to improve on putting teams away in close games. However, the problems for the Warriors are very fixable and can be worked out. “I think we’re going to get stronger in our half court offense,” says a confident Carpenter who also believes in her teammates. “Our team, dominantly seniors, will pull together and repeat as sectional champions.” With the confidence problem out of the way, anything is possible for the Lady Warriors if they continue to play the way they did against Lakeland. With the veteran leadership and the confidence of Coach Yoder, the team can play deep into the post season this year. January 2011 Head Coach Randy Yoder had to have been pleased with the performance. The game showed off their strengths that Yoder believes they have which are a “competitive nature” and a strong “work ethic.” Going into the season Yoder was concerned about the teams’ self confidence. He wanted them to “believe their going to win every time they step on the court.” After a performance like that they should have no problem. Before the game, junior Skyler Carpenter was very focused on the Lakeland game. “If we can beat them, we will accomplish the county sweep, both Prairie Heights and Lakeland, and then later Fairfield. It’s always all out against them and never an easy game by any means.” The season has been a little difficult so far, but things seem to be heading in the right direction. The Warriors have a veteran team this year boasting seven seniors and four juniors who coach Yoder believes has Girls Boys Girls Sat., Jan. 15 • 6 pm At Lakeland Wed.
