Shipshe-Scott Elementary Fourth Graders Donate to Love Bundles Mrs. Sandy Clark and her brother Tony Troyer, came to teach the students of Mrs. Bergstedt’s fourth-grade class about Love Bundles, a project of Children’s Lifeline, an organization that helps children in Haiti. The children were given a presentation about life in Haiti. Many items including hand lotion, shampoo, toothbrushes and other personal care products, along with stuffed animals and other toys, and many other items were brought to school by Mrs. Bergstedt’s students to be donated to Mrs. Clark’s Haiti project. Love Bundles were filled for both boys and girls in Haiti from their generous donations. Mrs. Bergstedt’s students learned that 50% of children in Haiti die prior to the age of 15, fifty percent of adults in Haiti are illiterate, and Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. The event was held at the Michiana Event Center in Howe, along with the Northeast Indiana Woodcrafter’s Association’s Annual Furniture Expo. The companies honored were, Crossroads RV, Mudd-Ox Inc., Nishikawa Standard/NISCO, Open Range RV, S&H Metals and Spectrum Finishing. They were chosen for their contributions to LaGrange County’s economic growth in 2012, as well as for partnering with the LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation to assist them in their business development projects.
