Bicycle Safety Tips
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued some simple guidelines for safe bicycling.
Protect Your Head.
Wear a Helmet.
Everyone, no matter what age,
should wear a bicycle helmet. According to the NHTSA, helmets have been
proven to be 85 to 88 percent effective
in preventing traumatic brain injury,
the primary cause of death and disabling injuries resulting from cycling
crashes. When choosing a helmet,
make sure to check for the Consumer
Product Safety Commission (CPSC)
label inside the helmet. Also, make
sure that you select a helmet that fits
properly. (See the guidelines with this
article for fitting your bike helmet).
