ALUMNI IN THE HEADLINES DOUG GHIM EARNS PGA TOUR CARD Ghim sat 10 feet from the hole on the 18th green at Victoria National. He had to sink the putt in order to earn his PGA TOUR card at the Korn Ferry Championship. When he stood over the ball, he had a sense of confidence. As best he could tell, the ball would break from right to left, but not much. Ghim was looking at what he would call a “very makeable putt.” He took a couple of deep breaths, then took aim at the right edge of the cup. Ghim unleashed a fist pump even before his ball dropped into the hole on Sept. 2, Labor Day. “It’s probably the strongest reaction I’ve ever had to any shot I’ve ever played,” Ghim said. “I was obviously extremely proud in that moment because I made the putt and that I was able to basically hold my own in that situation, in that circumstance, with all that pressure.” SZOKOL EARNS LPGA CARD IJGA Alumna Elizabeth Szokol earned her LPGA card for the 2020 season.
