Playing golf in the Post-Season The YDP regular season came to a close with the Player of the Year Championship, but there have been a number of events since then. Players in the Youth Development Program have the unique opportunity to play events throughout the fall when the Playing Members, who are playing on a high school team, are unable to play in outside events because of IHSA rules. This year, during the fall, there are three Fall Junior Elite Events, as well as, two Fall Junior Leagues. These provide opportunities for players to continue playing tournament golf past the regular, summer season. Junior Elite Events are 36-hole, Stroke Play competitions. Players have the opportunity to earn AJGA PBE and scores will be submitted to Junior Golf Scoreboard. The Fall Junior Leagues meet once a week after school for a three week span. The players will be paired on-site with other players who are in attendence that week and will play 9 holes. The first Fall Junior Elite Event is at Deerpath GC on August 25-26. The next Fall Junior Elite will be at Pheasant Run on September 22-23. Registration for this event will close on September 14, and there are still spots available at this event. The final Junior Elite Event of the season will take place at Winnetka GC on October 13-14. There are spots remaining in this event as well, with registration closing on October 5. The Junior League is hosted at Sportsman’s CC in Northbook, IL, on Tuesdays from September 4-18, and at Cog Hill G&CC on Wednesdays from September 5-19. The Hole Story // August 2018 25
