EAST LAKE CUP The Fighting Illini Men’s Golf Team finished up their fall season during the final round of the East Lake Cup. As a team, the Illini got off to an early lead during Wednesday’s round with IJGA alumnus Brendan O’Reilly putting himself ahead in his match from the start. O’Reilly battled with Vanerbilt’s Harrison Ott throughout the match as Ott squared things up on the fourth hole before taking the lead at the turn. O’Reilly fought back to bring the match to all square before falling to Ott who finished the match 1-up. Fellow IJGA alumnus Nick Hardy halved his match for the Illini. After starting off the match behind, Hardy fought back to square his match on the 15th hole, but was unable to finish the match because the team result was already determined for the Illini. LOWEST SCORE IN PROGRAM HISTORY The Illinois Women’s Golf Team carded the lowest 54-hole tournament score in the program’s history at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship. IJGA alumni who contributed to the low score include Bing Singhsumalee and Dana Gattone. Singhsumalee carded a final round 5-under-par 66 in the final round ties the fourth-lowest single round score in the program’s history. NETISINGHA EARNS SECOND CAREER WIN The Southern Illinois University senior finished the Chi-Town Classic with a 4-over-par 148 tournament total. Hanna Netisingha took home her first individual win of the season, the second win of her career. Her first-round score of 70 tied her for eigth in all-time low 18-hole scores and was the best opening round score in SIU’s history.
