Ghim Undefeated at Walker Cup PHOTO CREDIT: Golf Digest IJGA Alumnus Doug Ghim was a member of the record- breaking U.S. Walker Cup team. The U.S. team scored 19 points, the most points ever recorded in a Walker Cup, and its 19-7 landslide victory over the Great Britain & Ireland team was the second widest margin of victory in the history of the event. Ghim defeated Matthew Jordan, 3 and 1, to complete his 4-0-0 sweep. Ghim Finishes Runner-up at United States Amateur Championship A few weeks before his historic appearance at the Walker Cup, Ghim was in the championship match at the USGA’s U.S. Amateur Championship at Riviera Country Club in California. Ghim called it “an incredible match. We didn’t give each other anything all afternoon. We worked for everything. It’s match play, right? It was do or die for him, and he did it.” The match went to 37 holes before Ghim ultimately lost the match to Doc Redman, who came back from 2 down with two to play.
