Single-Day Event Changes
If you have been a member of the Playing Member( PM) Division in the past, you might be looking at this year’ s schedule wondering what happened to Regionals, Sectionals and Opens. Starting this year, all single-day PM events, that are not qualifiers, will be called PM Stroke Play Events. This change is to help clear up some of the confusion that came with the different names of the single-day events.
These 18-hole events are designed to allow IJGA members to compete at courses near their home and are open to players of all skill levels. Tee times vary at PM Stroke Play Events based on the times the courses are able to set aside for us, so please refer to each Tournament Information Page for detailed information.
Q & A
Is there a limit to the number of PM Stroke Play Events I can play in? No, you are still able to play in as many or as few of the PM Stroke Play Events as you would like.
What about the points? Player of the Year points will be awarded according to the field size for each event. The Boys Divisions points will be awarded based on the size of each Boys Division and the Girls Divisions swill be awarded based on the size of each Girls Division. This allows for a fair distribution of points based on the size of the field rather than the type of event.
What kind of yardages will we be playing? The Junior( 14-15) and Senior( 16-18) Boys Divisions will be playing the course from 6,000 – 6,500 yards. The Junior( 14-15) and Senior( 16-18) Girls Divisions will be playing the course from 5,200 – 5,800 yards.
What determines the field size? There are two things that really determine the field size for an event. The first thing is the course’ s availability on the day of the event. The other is the number of players who sign up for a given event. It is difficult for us to give you a firm prediction of the number of points that you would be awarded for a particular event until the event has concluded and we know the number of players who competed that day.
Why are there two different tournament entry fees? The entry fee is determined by whether or not a course has a driving range. If the course does have a range, range balls are included in the price and you will pay $ 67. If you choose not to utilize the range, that is your choice, but you will still be charged the full amount. If a course does not have a range available for use, then the tournament entry fee will be $ 60.
