How to Become a Member

Fill out the SDHR Membership Application and pay the appropriate fee.

• Yearly (Individual) - $40

• Three Year (Individual) - $100 (You save $20)

• Lifetime (Individual or Joint) - $600

Membership in the Sugarbush Draft Horse Registry entitles you to vote for the directors who run the Registry, a $15 reduction in registration fees per registration , one (1) free transfer ($25 value) per year, one (1) 10% off coupon for use in the SDHR store and one (1) free yearly classified ad on the website.

How to Register Your Horse

1. Fill out an application – available online or in print form for mailing.

2. Provide current photos of the horse – one from each side, front, and rear. Include close-up photos of any distinctive LP characteristics, scars, brands or other identifying marks, if applicable. The preference is that the photos be emailed to the SDHR but you can also print them off on regular or photo paper and mail them in.

3. Pay the appropriate fee(s) including membership and/or transfer fee, if needed. Pricing for registration is:

• Horse applying for registration with one or more Sugarbush Draft Horse parents (with one parent of Approved Breeding Stock) – Members pay $35 and non-members pay $50.

• Horse applying for registration with one Sugarbush Draft parent & one unregistered parent (Registration only allowed through

12/31/2014) – Members pay $40 and

non-members pay $55.

• Horse applying for registration from horses of Approved Breeding Stock (where neither parent is registered with the Sugarbush Draft Horse Registry) – Members pay $85 and non-members pay $100.

4. Transfer of ownership form if you are not the owner of the dam at the time of foaling.

Other documents or information may be requested at the discretion of the Registrar and Board of Directors.

How to Submit a Horse for Approved Cross

1. Fill out an application – available online or in print form for mailing.

2. Provide current photos of the horse – one from each side, front, and rear. Include close-up photos of any distinctive LP characteristics, scars, brands or other identifying marks, if applicable. The preference is that the photos be emailed to the SDHR but you can also print them off on regular or photo paper and mail them in.

3. Pay the appropriate fee(s) including membership and/or transfer fee, if needed. Pricing for Approved Cross is:

• Horse applying for Sugarbush Draft Horse cross breeding approval – Nonrefundable if not approved – Members pay $45 and non-members pay $60.

Other documents or information may be requested at the discretion of the Registrar and Board of Directors.

How to Transfer Ownership of a Horse

Send the signed ownership transfer form with the appropriate transfer fee –$10 for members and $25 for non-members – to the SDHR office.
