SIMON PETER
The fourth Biblical example of God using “imperfect people” who were just perfect for His perfect plans is Simon Peter. Simon Peter was imperfect by human standards for God’s perfect plan of leaving the Church under His leadership when Jesus ascended to heaven because he had publicly denied Jesus three times. He had stated, “I do not know Him” (Luke 22:57), declared “I am not one of them” (Luke 22:58), and reiterated “I do not know what you are talking about for I was not with Jesus” (Luke 22:60). But despite this, God was still able to use Him and the early Church grew under his leadership. Therefore, if you were once a staunch, saved Christian before you backslid into a life of sin or if you have repeatedly and publicly declared that “I do not believe in God” or “I am an atheist” or “I am not one of those
Bible believing Christians” or “I am not saved”, and yet God is calling you to do some work for Him, do not discount yourself on the basis of your past words or actions.
Do not discount yourself on the basis of your past words or actions.
Set out in faith to accomplish the task that God has placed in your heart after repenting of your sinful errors and publicly declaring your new stand the way Simon Peter did when Jesus restored him after he publicly stated, “You know Lord that I love You” (John 21:15), “You know Lord that I love You” (John 21:16) and “Lord, You know all things and You know that I love you” (John 21:17)
