MAYOR, from Page 1
as the New Year begins, DiDonato expects the Grape, Packard,
Pratt and Second Street road reconstruction project to near its
conclusion, plus the water project
pertaining to Wells 1 and 3 at Lincoln Street.
“We will start to install the drip
irrigation on the soccer fields. that
will be in the beginning of the
year. Hopefully later in 2015 we
will be working on Valley avenue
and the reconstruction of Valley
and some of Broadway. So, the infrastructure that goes under Broadway we will have to get a joint
agreement with the county,” DiDonato said.
DiDonato would like to see
some additional security measures
take place for the Hammonton
Lake Park, as there have been ongoing issues with the bathrooms
being vandalized.
“Whether it is additional trips by
the police, naturally we can’t put
surveillance cameras inside a bathroom, but we can watch the doors
and see at 11 p.m. the bathroom
was vandalized and these are the
last five people at the door,” DiDonato said.
the town continues to pursue
the possibility of buying the former St. Martin de Porres Church
property on the corner of Park avenue and egg Harbor Road. it applied for Green acres funding and
is waiting for an answer.
DiDonato feels that would be a
nice addition for the Hammonton
Lake Park, potentially used for
more parking.
“it could also be used for additional fields if need be. But just to
get that property, and maybe, there
is talk and there is always a plan,
maybe eliminating and putting
Park avenue behind the church, so
to speak, and lining it up with Veterans Way on egg Harbor Road,
so pedestrians will be inside the
park. they won’t have to cross the
road. So, that would be nice someday if we can get that, but we will
have to see if we can get it at the
right number and see what kind of

Some areas throughout town
that were once occupied by businesses remain vacant at this time.
DiDonato stated he wants to see
