Frank Rudnesky (right) is welcomed
by Hammonton Rotary Club Presi-
dent Don DeFiccio during the club’s
November 20 meeting at Rocco’s
Town House. Rudnesky spoke about
leadership with the Hammonton Ro-
tary Club. Rudnesky discussed h is
book, 50 Great Things Leaders Do:
Let's Get Fired Up! , and how good
leadership can bring out the best in
people by teaching them to be lead-
ers. When you create a culture in a
school, at work or at home where you
believe in people, those people can
accomplish great things, he said,
sharing inspirational moments from
his youth and during his tenure as
principal of the Belhaven Avenue
Middle School in Linwood.
"If you can get people to want to
come to a place, wherever it is, then
amazing things happen. Happy peo-
ple out-perform unhappy people so
try to get to that happy place," Rud-
nesky said.
You don't have to read all 50 scenar-
ios to get something from his book.
“I wanted it to be so that if you pulled
any one of them out of a jar and did
that, it would make you a better per-
son and a better leader,” he said.
Some examples include: raising the
bar, setting goals, never asking any-
body to do something you wouldn’t
do, leading by example, having in-
tegrity, always treating people better
than you want to be treated, having
fun, and “thinking outside the box
and then throw that box away.”
Rudnesky, who grew up in
Bridgeton, received a doctoral de-
gree in educational leadership from
Widener University, an MBA from
Rowan University, and a bachelor of
science degree from the University
of San Francisco. He was principal
of the Belhaven School from 1999
to 2016. Now he teaches leader-
ship, strategy and change at Stock-
ton University, and does keynote
speeches, leadership and profes-
sional development workshops.
Rudnesky is the president of the
Hammonton Education Foundation.
