Board of Ed . approves a variety of spending measures

The following contacts , as stated in the agenda , were awarded by the board at the middle school : Poretta Builders for new terrazzo corridor floors in the amount of $ 48,500 based on lowest bid ; CDW-G for 90 Chromebooks with licenses and White Glove Service in the amount of $ 23,985 based on ESCNJ State Approved Cooperative Pricing ; Bill Flite Installations for the installation of 20 Brightlinks in the amount of $ 3,495 .

the awarding of the middle school terrazzo flooring project that will be completed this summer will be awarded tonight ,” Board member Manny Bermudez said .
As stated in the agenda , the board awarded various contracts at the high school : CDW-G for 90 Chromebooks with licenses and White Glove Service in the amount of $ 23,985 based on ESCNJ State Approved Cooperative Pricing ; Peterson Service Company to replace freeze pump motors in the amount of $ 12,620 based on lowest quote ; Neopost for the purchase of folding machine in the amount of $ 7,148.95 plus $ 1,252.95 for second year maintenance based on State Contract Pricing .
Several contracts were also awarded by the board at Warren E . Sooy Elementary School , as stated in the agenda : ACSG for Access Points in the amount of $ 2,851.53 ; Sonitrol for iPhone upgrade and additional Strobe in the amount of $ 2,815 ; Action Plumbing for sewer repair in the amount of $ 18,500 based on lowest quote ; Birch ’ s Communications LLC for Repeater / Radios in the amount of $ 5,413.72 based on lowest quote .
A request from the middle school to accept a check from the Hammonton Home and School Association for their Lunch Box Program in the amount of $ 500 was approved by the board .

The board approved the Security Aid Agreement with St . Joseph Elementary School ($ 9,100 ) and St . Joseph High School ($ 16,450 ) per attached . The items being purchased will be through Non-Public Security State Aid Funding .
The board also approved the disposal of approximately 25 Panasonic televisions that are antiquated and parts are no longer available located at the early childhood education center .
A letter of resignation from Lauren Frazier , as high school assistant girls ’ softball coach , was approved by the board .
During the meeting , the board approved the following personnel pending receipt of all necessary paperwork , as stated in the agenda :
• Gregory Woodson – district ( replacement F . C .) part-time custodian
• Pasquale Fiorentino – district ( replacement E . N .) full-time maintenance worker
As stated in the agenda , the following board approved personnel changes are effective November 18 , 2016 :
• Michael Lukas – district full time bus driver
• George Sheary – district full time bus driver
• Melissa Sabat – district parttime bus aide
• Barbara Bertino – district parttime food service worker
• Rossana Kelly – district parttime food service worker
Waterford Representative Terri Chiddenton voted for all Programs / Students / Miscellaneous items 48 – 58 except for item 51 , which revised the 2016-2017 school calendar due to testing in the early childhood center and elementary school : Single Session days from April 25 , 26 and 27 , 2017 , to April 18 , 19 and 20 , 2017 , as stated in the agenda .
Hammonton Middle School Principal Michael Nolan gave a presentation about the middle school entitled “ HMS by the numbers …” In the presentation , Nolan stated that 930 students are currently attending the middle school and broke down the numbers of how many students are involved in extra-curricular activities , extrahelp intervention programs , the media center and the involvement of student council with a community service program collecting canned and non-perishable items for the St . Vincent de Paul Society .
Nolan also spoke about the new science labs , moving towards a more student oriented school and increasing involvement with STEAM . Finally , Nolan showed a video of a student in the Fantasy Football Academy solving part of an extended math equation .
