There was a dispute over the price of the weapon. At this point, the juvenile began pistol-whipping the other individual, and the weapon discharged. Then, the individual began to flee and the juvenile attempted to fire at him, but the weapon had jammed,” Jones said. Police were called and located the juvenile and recovered the weapon near Marjor Apartments on Third Street. Carmel pastor See MAKERS, Page 3 by Stephen Pistone GAZETTE STAFF WRITER HAMMONTON—The St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish ushered in a new era of spiritual leadership by officially installing the Rev. Peter Saporito as its Pastor on November 10 at St. Joseph’s Church. The church hosted a full Mass for Saporito, which included an appearance by the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree Color Corps as ushers, several passage readings and psalms and an appearance from the Bishop of the Diocese of Camden, the Most Rev. Dennis J. Sullivan as Principal Celebrant of the ceremony. The Gospel read during the Mass was from Matthew 28:16-20, which contains the final words of Jesus Christ to the Church.
