Brooke Sacco is the owner of
Behind the Moon, a children’s
clothing and accessories store located on Bellevue avenue.
“thanks to the amex Small Biz
Saturday campaign and our social
media marketing efforts, Small
Business Saturday of 2014 was
Behind the Moon’s best
sales day ever. We really pushed the event,
which included extended hours (9 a.m.
to 9 p.m.), Santa
Claus, a snow machine outside and
merchandise
discounts. Our audience
showed up and it was a
huge success. Small Business Saturday is a day to honor
your favorite shops and help feed
dollars right back into your local
economy. the money spent at Behind the Moon stays right here in
Hammonton. Me and my partners,
Julie Wilson and Pat Lioy, are
small business supporters through
and through. this year we are
planning to have Santa once
again, along with some other great
surprises. We are starting to promote the day and will be giving
out a $5 off coupon to use on
Small Business Saturday (with no
restrictions) with any purchase
made on Saturday, November 14
inviting customers to come back
and see us on what will be an even
bigger day than last year,” Sacco
said.
executive Director of the Hammonton Chamber of Commerce
John runfolo knows how important events like Small Business
Saturday are for the town and its
consumers.
“i don’t know the exact statistics, but small business drives
everything in the economy. Small
business employs a lot of people
and supports families … Small
business, with 20 employees, is
huge for a town like ours, and,
there are a lot of them. the vibrancy of our downtown and of
the main corridors of the economy
are the focuses. the Small Business Saturday does take focus
downtown, but there are avenues
like Golden feather, the Walmart
shopping center, Blueberry Crossing and Peach tree Plaza, all these
pockets where small business
drive the economy … there’s no
doubt people enjoy it. it’s like the
old days where people walk
around and everyone is floating
around. all the businesses have
specials going on. the businesses
who participate always say that
it’s a great day. it’s about the
awareness, even if you don’t go
out and shop that day, people
know you’re there and they want
your business. F
