Mayor Stephen DiDonato is proud of the way that people in Hammonton treat one another. “We are blessed to live in Hammonton, this town has kind, friendly and hardworking people. We have a special town, and i’m honored to live in this town. i believe Hammonton residents show kindness towards each other 365 days per year,” DiDonato said. World Kindness Day was introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement. the World Kindness Movement includes more than 40 nations throughout the world and is open to anyone interested in becoming a registered member. there are no limits on the different things a person can do to show kindness. if someone is having a rough day, do something nice for them. it will make you smile and realize that things aren’t always as bad as they seem. “i think the biggest thing is to forgive those closest to you when they hurt you. that's something i do myself,” adam Krell said. Director of Liturgy and Music at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish Lisa Neglia knows that kindness can begin from the smallest of things. “i believe acts of kindness begin with a smile. a smile opens your heart to the possibility of spreading kindness, and it’s a sign to others that you are open to their kindness. My parents instilled in me the importance of kindness, so i don’t ever think twice about holding a door open, picking up something someone dropped or saying hello when i don’t know the person at all. the best act of kindness is to witness my 6
