Lauren Elizabeth Pitale

Lauren Elizabeth Pitale , 30 , of Folsom , died on Wednesday , November 2 , 2016 , at Inspira Medical Center in Woodbury .
Lauren attended Folsom Elementary , St . Joseph Elementary and graduated from St . Joseph High School in 2004 . Lauren played travel soccer for the Winslow Twp . Lady Hawks and later played for St . Joseph High School . She went on to Rizzieri Cosmetology School in Marlton and worked at Bally ’ s Salon .
Lauren is survived by her parents , Charles P . Pitale Sr . and Liz Pitale ; two brothers , Charles P . Pitale Jr . and his wife , Liane of Vineland , and Michael P . Pitale and his wife , Jessica of Williamstown ; paternal grandmother , Marie Pitale ; maternal grandmother , Dorothy Berenato and her nephew , Lucas Pitale .
Family and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday , November 5 at St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish – St . Joseph Church , Third and French streets , Hammonton , NJ . Entombment followed in Greenmount Cemetery , 124 S . First Rd ., Hammonton , NJ .

Lillian A . Lucca

Lillian A . Lucca , 93 , of Hammonton , died on Monday , October 31 in Hammonton . Originally from Baltimore , Md ., she married and settled in Hammonton at the age of
16 . She worked in the local garment industry for most of her life .
Lillian was predeceased by her husband , Dominic and her children , Diana “ Deedy ” and Dominic “ Rusty ” Lucca . She is survived by her dear daughter-in-law , Vincetta Costello and her husband , Larry of Elm ; grandchildren , Nicole Schubert and her husband , Justin , Eric Costello and his wife , Angela ; great-grandchildren , Charles and Ani Schubert , and Carlotta , Cecelia , and Cianna Costello . Peter J . Caporelli Sr .

Peter J . Caporelli Sr ., of Atco , 83 , died on November 5 , 2016 , at Virtua Voorhees Hospital surrounded by his loving family .
Caporelli was born in Philadelphia and grew up in West Berlin . He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War . He was a loyal employee for 42 years at Owens-Corning Berlin , retiring in 1994 . Caporelli enjoyed traveling to Vermont , Stamp collecting , being an Eagles fan and watching professional Boxing .
Caporelli was predeceased by his siblings , Alphonso “ Funzy ” Caporelli and Carmella Dahdah . He is survived by his wife of 56 years , Viola L . ( nee Bond ) Caporelli of Atco ; children , Christine M . and husband , Robert Pistone of Hammonton , Charlene A . and husband , Kevin Luker of Browns Mills and Peter J . Caporelli Jr . of Atco ; grandchildren , Christian Casteel , Rachel O ’ Donnell , Stefanie Pistone , Michael Luker , Stephen Pistone and Brandon Luker ; siblings , Theresa Phillips of West Berlin , Palma Williams of Berlin , Joseph Caporelli of Berlin , Dolores Stevens of Mt . Laurel , Anthony Caporelli of Hammonton , Maryann Dugan of West Berlin , Joan Batten of Berlin .

Charles DeFebbo

Charles DeFebbo , 79 , of Hammonton , died peacefully on Friday , November 4 , 2016 , in AtlanticCare Regional Medical Center , Mainland Division , after a brief illness .
Born in Cedar Brook , he was a lifelong area resident . Mr . De- Febbo worked for Aggressive Coat Factory and Modern Clothing Co . in Hammonton for 25 years then went to work for Bally ’ s Hotel and Casino where he worked Security for more than 20 years . He was a United States Army Veteran , a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union and a former member of the Hammonton Police Reserves .
Mr . DeFebbo is survived by his wife , June DeFebbo ( nee Super ); one son , Chuck DeFebbo of Hammonton ; his granddaughter , Charlee DeFebbo of Atlantic City ; one brother , David DeFebbo of Vineland ; three sisters , Fenisia Blackwell of Lindale , TX , Martha
Green of England and Esther West of Camdenton , Mo .

Local election results

ELECTION , from Page 1 much . I will do the best I can like I did the last eight
years . I want to keep the town moving forward . We want to get Valley Avenue done first and work toward another road . It ’ s very important to keep up the town ’ s infrastructure . We want to keep everything moving well in the coming years . If I am allowed to continue as the head of the highway department we will continue the upgrades ,” Rodio said . Torrissi said he was pleased to be re-elected . “ I want to thank the people for their support and congratulate all the candidates from all the parties . We are going to put bathrooms at the soccer fields . We are starting on that next meeting . We are also going to work on a hotel and conference center ,” Torrissi said . Furgione also thanked voters for their support . “ I really appreciate the confidence of the residents ,”
Furgione said .
He said he would continue to work on projects like overseeing South Jersey Gas ’ remediation project at the corner of 12th and Lincoln Streets .
“ With South Jersey Gas , we ’ re hoping to have Ray Ferrara come to council in December or January . We have to make sure wells 1 and 3 are safe before we turn them on for the residents ’ use . We want to finish Valley Avenue , and I am on board with Councilman Torrissi about the bathrooms at the soccer fields . That is Franco Catania ’ s baby and we should finish that for him ,” Furgione said . Catania said he was interested in running again . “ I want to say congratulations to the winners . I ’ m humbled and honored by the support of the people who voted for me . You will be seeing Franco Catania

HPD investigates theft

In a separate and unrelated incident , police responded to the 900 block of 10th Street at 10:59 a . m . on November 5 in reference to a theft , Friel said in a report . The complainant reported that an air compressor and a Kawasaki ATV were taken from a building on the farm . The theft occurred between November 2 and November 3 , the report said . Any individual with information in reference to the incident , please contact the HPD Detective Bureau at 561-4000 .
Pinto was the investigating officer , Friel ’ s report said . again ,” Catania said . He hoped the restroom building project at Boyer Avenue that he championed would come to fruition .
“ It would be nice to have the restrooms down there at Boyer Avenue . There is a need for permanent restrooms at the facility instead of port-a-potties ,” Catania said .
The board of education featured two races , one for a separate one-year unexpired term and three candidates running unopposed for three seats on the board , each with a three-year term .
Raymond Scipione ( 2413 votes ) and Joseph Ingemi ( 1376 ) ran against each other for the remaining oneyear portion of the unexpired term of former board member and current member of council Joseph Giralo . Totals do not include mail-in , provisional or emergency ballots .
Scipione said being elected by a wide margin was a “ great ” feeling .
“ It feels great . I have to thank so many people who went above and beyond to help me . My family was a great support , and my friends on the school board really stepped it up and gave me a lot of support as well . We had our first meeting for the search for the superintendent , which I am part of the committee of four , I will be working on the teachers ’ contract . I look forward to fighting for the best possible education for your kids and mine at a price the taxpayers can afford . It ’ s not just a catchy jingle ,” Scipione said .
In the race for three seats with three-year terms on the Hammonton Board of Education , three incumbent members ran successfully in uncontested races for their seats . Barbara Berenato , Linda Byrnes and John Lyons all ran unopposed and were returned to the board by voters . Tallies were not available as of press time .
In other election news , the total number of voters was 5969 out of 8643 registered voters , or 69.1 percent of the electorate .
Donald Trump ( 3458 votes ) led Hillary Clinton ( 2117 votes ) in the presidential election locally , and Frank LoBiondo ( 3687 votes ) led David Cole ( 1491 votes ) in the congressional election locally . Totals do not include mail-in , provisional or emergency ballots .
Ballots from the town ’ s seven districts arrived at the Atlantic County Library / Hammonton beginning at approximately 8:29 p . m . However , District 2 ’ s ballots did not arrive until around 9 p . m . due to an error with one of the balloting machines , officials said .
According to Grace Silipena , courier for District 2 ’ s polling station , the door on the back of one of the ballot machines at the American Legion , located at 101 French St . could not be opened and the cartridge containing the polling data could not be received .
An official with the Board of Elections left the library at around 8:15 p . m . to assist with the machine at the American Legion .
