Wednesday, November 4, 2015 • The Hammonton Gazette • Page 3 Several municipal projects are planned for 2016 TOWN, from Page 1 correctly and completed in a smooth fashion. One of the first projects tackled will take place on Valley Avenue. “We had an issue last year where we had a pipe collapse near Broadway. When the engineers started to investigate, they realized that a lot of these pipes, a large number of which are encased in concrete, were starting to break down. That project is from Bellevue to Broadway, initially. It will go onto the other side of Broadway a little bit. That will be like last year’s Grape Street project,” Barberio said. DiDonato plans to have the town complete a small road proj- ect that will include the continuous patching of potholes. “This year, we did some potholes on Park Avenue. We did some on Walmer [Street] and Old Forks Road. We want to continue these small projects to fix some of the bad sections of the road, maybe not the full road, but to continue to remedy the potholes and improve driving conditions,” DiDonato said. “The cold winters combined with the salt and the snow have really caused some of our roads to deteriorate. We appointed Scott Rivera (as Hammonton Public Works Department Head), and he and I work together. I took care of all the specs and put it out for a bid. After we receive the bids, we make sure everything is appropriate and council approves it. Once the jobs are given out, Scott takes over from there. He’ll go around to all of them … We’ll try to mill out two inches and repave it to get a new surface on the road,” Barberio said. Barring any large-scale changes, the final project will be the consolidation of buildings at the Water and Sewer department in order to provide South Jersey Gas the space necessary to complete remediation work. “In order to do the South Jersey Gas project over on Lincoln [Street], they have to take down a DiMeglio Septic, number of our storage buildings. They’ve [South Jersey Gas] given us money, $1.6 million, to relocate these buildings. Anthony DeCicco, who became the Water and Sewer Superintendent four years ago, can house a lot of this storage stuff at his main location on Pleasant Mills Road,” Barberio said. Hammontonians can expect to see these municipal projects begin within the first few months of 2016 and be completed before the end of the year. 4 arrests made downtown by Gabe Donio GAZETTE STAFF WRITER HAMMONTON—Four arrests were made downtown in a twoday period, Hammonton Police Captain Nick Salvatore said.
