OBITUARIES

Joseph Chappine

Joseph Chappine , 67 , a child of the Living God , died October 21 , 2023 . Joe was born Feb . 6 , 1956 , at the “ Esposito Home ” and raised in Hammonton , though countless , joyful days were spent on Hay Street in Winslow with 15 cousins from the Chappine side of the family . With an additional 23 cousins on the Ingemi side , it is understandable that , to Joe , family was paramount . Joe attended St Joseph ’ s Elementary School until the 4th grade ; then , went through the Hammonton school system . He lettered on the varsity football team three times and four times in Baseball . Graduating from HHS , in 1974 , he deeply loved his classmates . Though he didn ’ t see them very often after graduation , he always thought of them as family . On August 20th , 1983 , Joe married Sandra Gambardella , the love of his life and only woman he believed could possibly put up with him . While the successful business owner of a national insurance counselor staffing firm , Benefit Enrollment Specialists and Technology , Inc ., Joe ’ s God and his family was his life . If Joe was with any member of his family , he was content .
Joe was predeceased by his father , Felice “ Lee ” and Rose ( nee Ingemi ) Chappine ; his grandparents , Frank and Carmella ( nee Marinucci ) Chiappine and Joseph and Anna ( nee Siligato ) Ingemi . He was survived by wife , Sandra Gambardella ; daughters , Alexsandra Chappine ( Harry Bell ) and Stephanie Weber ( Lawrence ), he was the devoted “ Gpop Too Cool ” of Noah Chappine , MacKenzie Bell , Teresa , Gianna , and Vincent Weber . Also survived by brothers , Lee Chappine ( Sopika ), Frank Chappine ( Lorraine ), Thomas Chappine ( Patricia ); and sister , Roseann Struble ( Stephen ); nephews , Dr Stephen Struble , LT Struble , Dylan Chappine , David Chappine , and Michael Bartolone ; Nieces , Cathy ( Jim ) Mento , Jennifer Chappine , Rose Chappine and Rachel Hudak .
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Thursday October 26 , 2023 from 6 p . m . – 8 p . m . and Friday from 9 a . m . – 10 a . m . at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N . Michael J . DelGuercio , Jr .

Michael J . DelGuercio , Jr ., 75 , of Elm , N . J . passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Saturday October 21 , 2023 . Mike was born and raised in Elm and graduated from Edgewood Regional High School in 1966 . He started Mike ’ s Tree Service in 1967 and continued his trade until the present . Since the early 1980 ’ s , he was very active in the Hammonton Exchange Club and served as president on several occasions . His love of outdoors allowed him to be an avid hunter , farmer as well as a traveler of the world .
Mike is predeceased by his father , Michael J . Del-
Guercio , Sr .; and his grandson , Salvatore James Fostinis . He is survived by wife , Siew Lan DelGuercio ; three daughters , Grace DelGuercio ( Scott Schwarz ), Bridget DelGuercio ( Frank Ellis ) and Michelle Tavarez ( Luis ); his mother , Mildred DelGuercio ; his brother , Paul DelGuercio ( Lucille ); and his sister , Alanna DeAnnuntis ( Joseph ). He will be sadly missed by his three granddaughters , Cheyenne DelGuercio , Lillian and Violet Tavarez .

Robert J . Parmer Sr .

Robert J . Parmer Sr ., 96 , of Hammonton , N . J . passed away Monday October 16 , 2023 at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland , N . J . He was born and raised in Philadelphia , Pa ., moved to Collings Lakes where he raised his family and finally settled in Hammonton , N . J . He served in the U . S . Navy during World War II . Upon his retirement from SKF Bearing distributors he began working for Harrah Resort where he also retired . He loved bowling with his family in leagues at DiDonato ’ s Bowling Alley in Hammonton , N . J . He enjoyed the casinos and Bingo with his daughter and friends .
Robert is predeceased by his parents , Howard and Florence Parmer Sr .; wife , Teresa ; daughter , Margaret Henshaw ; and sons , Robert , Gerald and Thomas Parmer . He is survived by his son , Bruce Parmer ; and son in law , Thomas Henshaw ; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren .

HAMMONTON — Hammonton Police Department made two arrests for DUI and criminal trespassing , according to Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel .
A call in reference to an erratic driver in the area of Route 206 and N . White Horse Pike was reported on Oct . 16 at 4:57 p . m ., Friel said .
A black Jeep Liberty was driving erratically on Route 206 . The vehicle pulled into TD Bank and drove on top of the curb .

HPD makes DUI , criminal trespassing arrests

Honorable Teofilo Montañez

The Honorable Teofilo Montañez , JMC , 67 , of Glassboro passed away suddenly on Thursday , October 19 , 2023 at his residence . Born in Manhattan , N . Y . he moved to South Jersey over 50 years ago . He graduated from Glassboro State College ( Rowan University ) where he met the love of his life . He attended Seton Hall Law School with his sister Angelina . Judge Montañez was a founding partner of Montañez & Montañez , Law Offices in Hammonton and Montañez Law Offices in Vineland . In 2013 , he was appointed Chief Judge of the Vineland Municipal Court . He also served the City of Camden as an Associate Judge for 24 years . He was the first Puerto Rican Judge appointed in the City of Camden . He was a loving husband , devoted father and adoring grandfather . He enjoyed spending time with his family and the “ occasional ” cigar .
He was a trusted advisor to all and he was a source of stories and laughter . His memberships included : American Judges Association , Camden County Municipal Court Judges Association , American Bar Association ; Atlantic County Bar Association ; Hispanic Bar Association , Camden County Hispanic Bar Association , a member of the Supreme Court of N . J . District I Ethics Committee , the U . S . Attorney General ’ s List of Referral of Conflict Matters and Co-Chair Hispanic National Bar Convention 1992 . Judge Montañez ’ past affiliations included the following : Board Member of L . E . A . P . Academy , Member of the Supreme Court of New Jersey Attorney Ethics Committee District One , Member of the Supreme Court of New Jersey Minority Concerns Committee , Member of the Ranking Committee for President of the United States Award for Excellence for 1996 , Second Lieutenant Civil Air Patrol , Hammonton Chamber of Commerce , Guest Lecturer to Colleges , High Schools and Community Affairs , Member of the EOF Community Advisory Board , Delegate of the Puerto Rican Congress of N . J ., Board member for the University of Medicine & Dentistry of NJ for Southern NJ Community Liaison Council , Board Member & 1st Vice-President of Hispanic Alliance of Atlantic County ( HAAC ), Legal Advisor for Hispanos Unidos of Hammonton , Legal Advisor for Latin Congress of Atlantic City , Board member for the Atlantic Community College Board Legal Assistant & ParaLegal Studies and Co- Chairman of Hispanic Political Assembly .
Judge Montañez was predeceased by his parents , Teofilo Montañez and Ana Delia Melendez ; as well as his brother , Carlos Melendez . He is survived by his loving wife , Sandra Milagros Montañez ( née Calderón ); his two daughters , Marcia Montañez-Cathey ( Ray ), Juliana Montañez ( Edwin Barrita ); his grandchildren , Reina Milagros Cathey , Cruz Teofilo Cathey , Cassian Edwin Cathey , Juliette Delia Barrita , Adelina Maria Barrita ; his sisters , Elba Perez ( Agapito ), Angelina Montañez ( the late Santos Irizarry- Rodriguez ); his brothers , Hector Melendez ( Frances ), Robert Montañez ( Dalquis ); his brothers in law , Edwin Calderón , Edgar Calderón , John Calderón , Nelson Calderón and many nieces , nephews , cousins and friends .
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated , Saturday , October 28 , 2023 12 p . m . at St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish , Church of St . Joseph ’ s 226 French St ., Hammonton . and the accused driver , James Weiss , 47 , of Sewell , was inside the bank and exhibited signs of impairment .
Weiss was arrested and charged with DUI , refusal to submit to breath testing , careless and reckless driving and open container of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle .
Weiss was released , pending court appearance at Hammonton Joint Municipal Court .
A caller reported a suspicious vehicle in the prime block of Plymouth Road on Oct . 22 at 11:44 a . m .
The caller stated that two subjects were in an auto yard trespassing .
Scola arrived and determined that there two subjects that had trespassed and attempted to steal various motor vehicle parts from the auto yard .
The subjects were located and identified as Peter Garcynski V , 42 , of Buena and Garcynski was accompanied by a minor .
Subjects ran from police and were taken into custody .
Garcynski V was found to have multiple outstanding warrants and was transported to police headquarters for processing . Garcynski V was charged with criminal trespassing , resisting arrest by flight and endangering the welfare of a child .
Garcynski V was transported to the Atlantic County Justice Facility on an National Crime Information Center ( NCIC ) warrant and the juvenile was transported back to his mother .
The Hammonton Police Department is also hosting a medication collection event on Oct . 28 from 10 a . m . to 2 p . m . at the Hammonton Police Department .
This report is comprised of arrests and investigations made by the men and women of local enforcement . All suspects and arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law .
