Pyramid Drug & Alcohol Rehab comes to Kessler Wednesday, October 24, 2018 • The Hammonton Gazette • Page 3 PYRAMID, from Page 1 The grand opening marked the establishment of Pyramid Health- care Inc.’s first detox and inpatient treatment center in the New Jersey, which will significantly satisfy a need for inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation services within the state, according to Pyramid Healthcare Inc. Director of Oper- ations Dominic Barone. “Right now, they’re sending clients up to Bergen County; that’s not productive. So, they really feel good about this facility … It is right in their back yard and it’s going to serve a population that is tremendously underserved in the state,” Barone said. The recovering patients at the new detox and inpatient treatment center will receive an individual- ized treatment program that is tai- lored to their needs and the addic- tion issues they face. “We don’t have a cookie cutter approach. We individualize treat- ment … We have an eclectic ap- proach; we don’t do anything one way. A lot of rehabs out there try and have patients fit their program. We, as a program, are going to pre- pare ourselves to fit every individ- ual; that’s our approach,” Pyramid Healthcare Inc. Vice President of Operations Matt Mantone said. Mantone said that Pyramid Healthcare Inc. will also be pre- pared to fit the financial limita- tions of every patient that seeks treatment at its detox and inpatient treatment center by accepting sev- eral primary insurance plans, as well as Medicaid. “Our payer mix is unique. A lot of places will take primary insur- ance, but not Medicaid. Some places will only take Medicaid. We’re basically going to take everybody,” Mantone said. In March 2017, Hammonton’s now-dissolved zoning board of ad- justment unanimously approved a use variance that allowed health care investment group Kessler Management LLC to use the de- funct, former hospital space as a drug and alcohol rehabilitation fa- cility. The hospital had been shut down for eight years at the time of the variance approval, and Man- Now carrying Blush by Hayley Paige and Maggie Sottero feed all of South Jersey from this location, so we’re here,” LeFevre said. Before the ceremonial ribbon cutting of the new facility, Man- tone introduced several local and county dignitaries who were in at- tendance and addressed the crowd, including Councilman Joseph Gi- ralo, Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson, Atlantic County Freeholder Board Chairman Frank D. Formica and Atlantic County Fifth District Freeholder James A. Bertino. “On behalf of Mayor Steve Di- Donato and the town of Hammon- ton, we’re very proud to welcome a much-needed facility into our community. We’re happy to see that the once Kessler Hospital is now open. You have our full sup- port from mayor and Council. I look forward to working with you. I look forward to seeing many people helped over the years,” Gi- ralo said. Levinson addressed the need for drug and alcohol addiction being widely treated as a disease rather than a character flaw, which he said will continue to be the ap- proach taken in Atlantic County by supporting treatment facilities like Hammonton’s. Formica added that the county is currently implement- ing a few programs that are proac- See OPENING, Page 10 DiMeglio Septic , Est. 1975 ~ DEP 03261 ~ Paul DiMeglio Inc. 1 (800) 427-4617 ~ 561-1007 ~ 561-3597 491 White Horse Pike • Ancora, NJ • Grease Trap Cleaning • Portable Toilets • Septic Certifications • Jetting Service We carry gorgeous dresses by: One Sindoni Lane, Suite C, Hammonton (609) 270-7886 • www.meadowsbridalshop.com tone said it took about 14 months of rigorous renovations to bring the facility to its current improved state, which he said will allow for a very high morale and comfort level among recovering patients. “You could have the greatest cli- nicians in the world, but if a person isn’t comfortable where they are, they’re not going open up to you, or they’re not going to want to stay. So, I think the biggest thing is really making them comfortable first, whether it’s with the ameni- ties, but also physically with the medication and with detox. Get people medically stable, feeling better, and then they’re ready to look into some other things,” Man- tone said. During a welcome address at the grand opening event, Mantone gave thanks to Kenneth C. LeFevre, a former New Jersey Second Legislative District As- semblyman and the current man- aging partner of Pathfinder Resources LLC., who spent the past three years lobbying for Pyra- mid Healthcare LLC to choose Hammonton as the location of its new treatment center due to its centralized location within south- ern New Jersey. “It always came right back to here … And I was always trying to impress upon them that this would be a good spot because it would Hayley Paige, Maggie Sottero Casablanca, Mori Lee, and so much more!
