ObITuARIES Phyllis DiDonato

Phyllis ( nee Chiappine ) DiDonato , 85 , of Hammonton , died with her family by her side on Wednesday , October 12 , 2016 .

Born in Winslow , she graduated from Lower Camden County regional High School in 1948 . Upon graduation , she worked at Suburban Gas until her marriage . Phyllis was an active community volunteer in Hammonton , where she lived most of her life . for several years , she was the chair of the Kessler Hospital Ball ; she also chaired a Pta drive to collect coats for underprivileged children and was a den mother for the Cub Scouts . Phyllis enjoyed an active lifestyle that included boating , dancing , cooking and hosting parties for her family and friends , and of course , bowling . always a forward thinker , Phyllis opened one of the first aerobic studios in the area in the early 1980s . She lived joyfully and fearlessly , never missing an opportunity to put more love into the world . Phyllis will be remembered for her unconditional love for and pride in her family and friends .

Phyllis is predeceased by her parents , frank and Carmela Chiappine ; brothers , tony , Joe and Lee , and sisters , Julie DeStefano and rosalie Calderone . She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years , Dominic “ tip ”; three loving sons , Donny and wife , tracey , Steve and wife , Debbie , and John and wife , Gigi ; grandchildren , Christina Dillon ( Drew ), Matthew , erin , and zachary ; brother , frank Chiappine ( ada ); brother-in-law , John Calderone ; sister-in-law , rose Chappine of Hammonton , as well as sisters-in-law , Mary Jane Short of Vero Beach , fla ., and Laura DiDonato of Hammonton . relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday , October 17 at the St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish , St . Joseph Church , third St ., Hammonton . interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery , Hammonton .

Alice A . Seemar alice a . ( nee Broad ) Seemar , 97 , of Vineland , died on Wednesday morning October 12 , 2016 .

Mrs . Seemar was born in Johnston , ri , and was a longtime resident of Hammonton prior to moving to Vineland in 1987 . She was the wife of the late raymond D . Seemar who died in 2004 . alice was a homemaker and a full-time wife , mother and grandmother . She had also worked outside of the home for a number of years at the Whitehall Pharmaceutical Co ., Hammonton . alice enjoyed knitting and crocheting . alice is survived by her daughter , Mary Lou edminster ; son and daughter in-law , frank and Sally Seemar ; granddaughter , Lori and her husband , Chris Myers ; grandson , William and his wife , Linda edminster ; three great-grandsons , Cody , David and Samuel iii ; one great-granddaughter , Katelyn , as well as several nieces and nephews . relatives and friends attended her funeral Services on Saturday at the Pancoast funeral Home , 676 S . Main rd ., Vineland . Burial was in the Greenwood Memorial Park , Millville . arrangements made by the Pancoast funeral Home .

Maria A . Spoganetz

Maria a . ( nee abatemarco ) Spoganetz , 68 , of Hammonton , died on October 11 , 2016 .

Maria was born in Brooklyn , NY , and a graduate of Carteret High School , class of 1966 where she was a member of the National Honor Society . Maria retired from HQSi in Cranbury , NJ , where she worked as a desktop publisher .

Maria is predeceased by her parents , John and angelina abatemarco and her sister , Louise abatemarco . Maria is survived by her two daughters , Louise Geiling and her husband , robert Sr . of Hammonton , and Vicki Sandor and her husband , Nicholas fifth of edison ; her siblings , adelaide Crianza of Baytown , texas , Mickey Verello of Mascotte , fla ., Charlotte ( Phil ) Sorbera of Sicklerville , toniann androvich of Carteret , and Joann ( al ) Lovas of Sicklerville ; her grandchildren , Marisa Sandor , Nicholas Sandor Vi , robert Geiling ii and Joshua Geiling , and many loving nieces , nephews and friends . family and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday , October 15 at St . Mary of Mt Carmel Parish , St . anthony Church rt . # 206 Hammonton . Gene Vitale

HaMMONtON — retired New Jersey State Superior Court Judge Michael Donio will be hosting a one-hour radio show twice per month on WPG talk radio 104.1 fM as part of John DeMasi ’ s “ talk with a Purpose ” show . Donio will be on from 10 a . m . to 11 a . m . every other Saturday beginning on October 22 . DeMasi is on the air every Saturday from 9 a . m . to noon .

DeMasi has had the show since September 2015 .

“ i pretty much cover what is going on in the world . it ’ s a general talk show with a lot of participation from the audience ,” DeMasi said .

Donio and DeMasi have known each other for a while .

“ Mike and i have known each other for years . Mike was my attorney years ago . i used to see him around . We got friendly ,” DeMasi said .

Donio served as a judge for 20 years . He retired at the end of July 2015 . He and DeMasi talked about doing a show after Donio ’ s retirement .

“ i was doing a story on guns . the Shaneen allen case came up . [ Donio ] got crucified unjustly . and then when he retired , we started talking about gun laws one day . i said , ‘ Do you want to come

Gene Vitale died peacefully in austin , texas , on Wednesday , September 28 , 2016 .

He was loved beyond the meaning of the word by everyone . He was the son of the late tony and Millie Vitale of Hammonton , where he was born and raised . after high school , Gene served three years in the U . S . Marine Corps . He married Lynnetta Brown , and they moved to San angelo , texas , in 1960 , where he attended San angelo Jr . College . then they moved to austin , texas , in 1962 , and he graduated from the University of texas at austin in 1967 becoming a well-known graphic designer . He and Lynn were married for 56 years .

He is survived by his children , Michael and Lisa ; his grandchildren , anthony and Christopher ; four brothers and one sister , anthony ( Lukie ), Warren , regis , Larue and Yvonne Galletta .

Judge Donio radio show starts Oct . 22

Rita M . Campanella rita M . ( nee Colasurdo ) Campanella , 76 , of elmtowne , died on Wednesday , October 12 , 2016 , at her residence .

Born in Camden , rita was a lifelong Hammonton resident . She previously worked at Whitehall Labs in Hammonton , taught CCD at St . Martin de Porres Church and last worked as a secretary at Lenox China in Pomona until retiring . rita enjoyed cooking , was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family .

She is survived by her husband , Jack Campanella ; two daughters ; three grandchildren and a brother , James ( Barbara ) Colasurdo . relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on tuesday , October 18 , 2016 , at the St . Mary of Mt Carmel Parish St . Joseph Church , third and french St ., Hammonton . interment followed at the Greenmount Cemetery . in lieu of flowers , the family request donations may be made to the Hammonton Volunteer fire Co . # 1 , 108 front St ., Hammonton , NJ 08037 . arrangements made by the Landolfi funeral Home .

He then added that when Donio was on the show he was clear about the carry laws in New Jersey .

“ People emailed me and said , ‘ that guy was great ’,” DeMasi said .

“ When i was on his show a couple of times , one time we talked about gun control and gun control laws here in New Jersey versus across the country . another time , we talked about the [ Bill ] Cosby case ,” Donio said .

Donio was also on television as a commentator regarding the Cosby case . He credits DeMasi with the idea for the show .

“ John DeMasi came up with it . He said , ‘ the feedback was so good how would you like to come on and do an hour with me with current legal topics and politics ?’” Donio said .

Donio said he feels the better people understand the judiciary system , the more confidence they will have in it .

He hopes the show will sometimes “ have on different lawyers if they have a hot case going on or what their expertise is in .”

“ it is going to be dependent on current events ,” Donio said .

Donio says the show will teach the public how the judiciary system works .

“ i think that there has always been a secrecy behind the judiciary because of ethical constraints put on judges while they are sitting . i think a lot of times people have questions about cases ... Judges cannot talk about them while they [ are serving ].

“[ the show will be ] a behindthe-scenes peek about how the judiciary works and what goes into a judge ’ s ruling . i would like to be an educator to the public ,” Donio said .

Donio has a law practice in town . He writes two monthly columns for The Gazette — one on sports , one on legal issues and serves as needed as a legal commentator for NBC 10 .
