foot pole barn for storage purposes for
Block 2709, Lot 19, Zone DT-1 at 315 Pratt
Street.
The proposed pole barn structure will be
erected on a piece of property owned by the
Mount Carmel Society on the northerly portion of the site on Pratt Street. Pantalone
said the purpose of the structure will be to
store equipment during the Our Lady of Mt.
Carmel Feast Week, in addition to 50 picnic
tables the members built and use throughout the year and offer to the local community, Pantalone said.
“The picnic tables are stored outside now.
We built them two years ago and they are
really starting to deteriorate. It causes us a
lot of repair and maintenance on them,
whereas if we have a structure we can
house them in they will be much more
durable and last a lot longer. In addition, we
have a trailer out there that has a lot of
equipment on it that sits outside and we do
try to cover, but as you know in that big
area, that open area with the wind and
everything, it blows the covers off and we
are constantly having to replace them,”
Pantalone said.
There is one building the Mount Carmel
Society currently uses for storage, but there
has been a need for a second structure to
store additional items. That particular building is to the front-left of the site, while the
proposed pole barn will be to the backright. According to Pantalone, the building
has 12-foot doors and a 4/12 roof
pitch.
“It is similar to the other building. This building will be a little bit
bigger. The only utilities that we
will need are that we will run electric to the building. We won’t need
anything else, it is just a storage
building. There will be lights inside
the building,” Pantalone said.
The Mount Carmel Society
building is located on a portion of
Tilton Street referred to as Mount
Carmel Lane. The proposed structure will be located to the rear of
the site on Pratt Street, around the
corner from the Mt. Carmel Society
building. The board raised a question about neighbors potentially
being impacted because of the pole
barn installation.
“The building won’t be used at
nighttime. We are very concerned
about that. We will work with our
neighbors to make sure that we take
everything into consideration. They
are great neighbors and we appreciate what they do for us, as being
who they are during that week as
well. We have a good working relationship,” Pantalone said.
Board engineer Robert Vettese
provided his report to the members
of the board and the applicant.
iPhone theft
leads to two
arrests

HAMMONTON—Two people
were arrested in connection with a
previously reported missing or
stolen iPhone reported to police on
August 9, Hammonton Police Captain Nick Salvatore said.
John Fatcher, 31, of Hammonton was charged with criminal mischief and receiving stolen property,
Salvatore said.
Janie Rodriguez, 21, also of
Hammonton, was charged with
theft by unlawful taking, Salvatore
said.
Rodriguez was released on her
own recognizance, Salvatore said;
Fatcher was charged while already
in the Atlantic County Jail, Salvatore said.
Officer David Reustle was the
arresting officer, Salvatore said.
Vettese had site plan related questions, but
the applicant addressed most of the issues
in his testimony with an aerial view of the
site and its surrounding uses.
The siding of the structure will be tan and
the trim will be brown, according to Pantalone. Because it will be in close proximity
of neighboring residences, Vettese mentioned providing some type of collection for
roof runoff. The applicant said he will comply with whatever the board suggests.
In board planner Kevin Dixon’s report
read by Vettese, there were items discussed
in relation to variances.
“There is an existing 24-foot by 48-foot
building on the front of the site near Pratt
Street, and the proposed building will be on
the northerly portion of the site and the rectangular area is about 50-feet by 73 Y
