in trying to conserve water through
the summer months, but as you extend the time-frame the DEP is required to, and as you’re asking for
an extension of time we have to
have a public hearing related to
any extension of time,” Vettese
said.
No public wished to be heard on
the item.
Vettese also gave an overview of
the work completion at each well
site and stated that all town wells
should be back online and fully
operational this summer.
“So basically Wells 5 and 7 are
done, they were back online probably by January of 2013 and actually on Wells 1 and 3 which are in
the center of town, the town was
very active and went out and did a
temporary remediation effort …
this past summer we had Wells 5,
7 and 3 serving the town and Well
number 4 was being remediated.
That now is, has been completed
that remediation work and that’ll
be back online probably the end of
this month, the first part of October. So we’ll have our three largest
wells back online by the beginning
of October. In conjunction with
that the town also took or received
bids in conjunction with the Spillfund process to remediate wells, to
do a permanent solution for Wells
number 1 and 3 on Lincoln Street.
They received bids in August and
there was a recommendation made
for an award for TKT of
Williamstown in the amount of
$1,349,150 and luckily that’s
going to be through Spillfund …
we did send out to Spillfund, they
approved that particular contract
and they authorized the award of
that contract. We just had a preconstruction meeting last Thursday and they are scheduled to start
during the month of October …
we should have all our wells back
online and ready for operation this
summer [2015],” Vettese said.
The contractor has completed
work at the Well 4 radium treatment facility and “treatment units
have been installed and the interior pipe work, pumps, electrical
system, controls are complete and
ready for start-up. The superinten-

dent has received a report from the
testing lab related to favorable
water test results,” the agenda said.
During his report, Councilman
Edward Wuillermin stated that a
vertical turbine used to transfer
treated wastewater to the disposal
site was in need of repair and it
was determined it would be more
cost effective to replace it at a cost
of approximately $22,900 to be
covered by the Water Systems
Outlay Capital Fund.
“One of the three vertical turbines that transfers treated wastewater from the plant on Pleasant
Mills Road over to the Boyer Avenue disposal site is in serious
need of repair. Our superintendent
Mr. DeCicco has obtained a proposal for this work and it turns out
that the cost to rebuild the existing
turbine unit, vertical turbine unit is
$2,000 more than it would be to replace it with a new unit so the cost
of the new unit is approximately
$22,900 and we will pay for that
