ISSN 1093-6181 our Miss new Jersey All of us at The Gazette – and we will boldly say all of us in Hammonton – are proud of our Miss New Jersey 2015 Lindsey Giannini. As a Hammontonian, a resident of Atlantic County and a New Jerseyan, she represented our town, our county and our state extraordinarily well on the national level at the 95th Miss America Competition, held on September 13 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Giannini was a standout contestant, winning a $6,000 scholarship during the preliminaries. She was featured on national television during the broadcast on ABC and featured in all of the promotion leading up to the show in print, television and online. Her Mr. Monopoly costume at the famous “Show Us Your Shoes” Parade on the Atlantic Boardwalk held on September 12 was a huge hit. She was also featured on a full page of the program for the competition, and her name is featured on all memorabilia listing the names of all 52 contestants. It was a wonderful source of pride for all Hammontonians to see Hammonton’s own Lindsey Giannini on the show with contestants from throughout the country. We congratulate Miss America 2016 – Miss Georgia Betty Cantrell. We also look forward to covering the reign of Miss New Jersey 2015 Lindsey Giannini in our “Where’s Lindsey” section and other sections of the newspaper. Giannini’s next year will be one of our newspaper’s top stories – as it has been from the beginning – and we will stay with her every step of the way as she travels throughout the state and beyond its borders as a goodwill ambassador for Hammonton, Atlantic County, New Jersey and the Miss America Organization. Now it is time for the town to purchase and install signs on or near all the “Hammonton” signs on each roadway coming into Hammonton that say “Home of Miss New Jersey 2015 Lindsey Giannini” perhaps with her photograph – and a similar congratulatory banner with the same wording could also be placed across Bellevue Avenue for several weeks at some point during her reign as Miss New Jersey. These actions would be outstanding ways for the town to continue to show its strong support for Giannini, who at the young age of 21 continues to bring honor to her hometown in all she does.
