School sports rivalry,
football passion strong

HaMMONtON—the longtime tradition of Hammonton and
St. Joseph High Schools has helped
develop a sense of pride in fans of
all of the sports at each high school,
the majority of whom are alumni at
each of the respected schools. for
years, Hammonton and St. Joe
faced each other in the classic
crosstown rivalry game. the football game, held on thanksgiving
Weekend, was one of the biggest
local annual events, even counting
those not related to sports. although that game has since been removed from each team’s schedule,
those who witnessed and lived it
for so many years have not forgotten about its impact on the people
