HAMMONTON—Mayor and
council met and discussed a vari-
ety of issues at their monthly
meeting on August 26, 2016.
First among them was a presen-
tation by robert Schenk of the
Town Clock Committee about the
status of the clock’s repair. The
clock, a 1922 Seth Thomas street
clock, was installed by People’s
Bank, on the corner of Bellevue
and Central Avenues (what is now
Wells Fargo), in 1929. The clock
was moved to its current location
in 1965 and experienced some
damage from the move. Currently,
the paint on the clock is peeling,
and the time has stopped at 12:01.
