Last week, Gazette Publisher Gabe Donio asked residents to help the newspaper in the search for the oldest male and female lifelong residents. Responses came into the offices of The Gazette immediately. Since last week, many readers have called in with the names of residents in their late 90s who may be the unofficial holders of the titles of oldest male or female Hammontonian. We are planning on interviewing some of these longstanding residents of our town. We know our readers will be interested in reading what they have to say about the Hammonton of decades past. Once again, we are asking anyone reading this editorial to contact us at 704-1940 or Gabe Donio at [email protected] if you know anyone who fits the description of oldest male or female Hammontonian. The only criteria is that they are of advanced age, and that they have lived in Hammonton for their entire life. We will print the results within the next month. In the meantime, we will be interviewing the residents we have already heard about in the last week, along with anyone else we find. When the search is concluded, and the interviews are complete, we will reveal our unofficial oldest male and female Hammontonians — only in The Gazette. oldest hammontonians There are two school districts in Hammonton: Hammonton and St. Joseph. Several thousand students attend school in town each day when the schools are in session, which they will be next week.
