“ Are they just going to be refinishing it and keeping it tennis courts ?” Adamucci said .
Rodio said that the courts are being completely redone . Recreation Leader Denise Mazzeo explained further .
“ The last drawing I saw is all tennis and all pickleball capable ,” Mazzeo said , adding that the pickleball courts will be using portable nets .
Adamucci said that she and Ranere frequently travel to other municipalities to play pickleball , and cautioned about portable nets for

the sport as opposed to permanent ones . Ranere agreed .
“ They get destroyed . They ’ re never even . They ’ re not right to play on , and people won ’ t like to play on them ,” Ranere said .
Mazzeo reiterated that the creation of the pickleball courts is a “ joint venture with the Hammonton Board of Education .”
“ The board has four tennis courts ; we have two . The goal is to have 12 pickleball courts — two pickleball courts on each tennis court . The two that are lit are the town courts ; the four that are not lit are the school board courts . All of them are going to have pickleball capability ; all of them are getting refinished ,” Mazzeo said .
In other business , Cayden De- Marsico-Kienzle — a member of Skate Hammonton — addressed the commission regarding that organization ’ s first Friday Night Skate Night , which was held on August 12 on the basketball courts at the 11th Street Recreation Fields .
“ We would all just like to say thank you for letting us have it . We all had a wonderful time . A lot of people came — somewhere around 23 people . I was talking to a lot of my friends , and a lot of them already came and are coming next time . There were a lot of adults who know how to skate , and they taught a lot of the younger kids how to do tricks and stuff . Everyone learned a lot , and we had a lot of fun ,” DeMarsico-Kienzle said .
Commission chair Lou Cappuccio noted his appreciation for Skate Hammonton ’ s patience and determination during the process of making their skate nights a reality .
“ I ’ m so glad we were able to get to this place . Let ’ s hope it can continue , and let ’ s keep doing it ,” Cappuccio said .
Mazzeo said that she had visited the event on August 12 .
“ They had tables set up for everybody to sign their waivers and get everything in order . They had their helmets on and their pads , and they were ready to roll . They were doing a really great job ; it was really cool to see all the tricks and stuff . I thought it was awesome ,” Mazzeo said .
Jasmine Kienzle , who formed Skate Hammonton ’ s non-profit corporation , expressed her appreciation to the commission .
“ I just want to say thank you , really ... It was definitely interesting to see how everyone was interacting , and they had a really great time ,” Kienzle said .
Mazzeo reminded the commission that Skate Hammonton had submitted a use-of-facilities request at the previous meeting to hold Friday Night Skate Nights on August 12 , August 19 , September 2 , September 9 , September 16 and September 23 from 5 p . m . to dusk , and that the commission had only approved the first date as a trial ; the remaining dates — with a changed start time to 4 p . m .— were on the agenda to be approved at this meeting .
Commissioner Ian Fisher made a motion to approve the dates ; Commissioner John Iacovelli seconded the motion , which was approved unanimously .
Mazzeo ’ s report also included the following use-of-facilities requests :
• New Jersey State Police : the baseball fields at the 11th Street Recreation Fields on September 22 , from 8 a . m . to 6 p . m .
• Ivette Guillermo-McGahee and Paolina Ramirez : the Kiwanis Pavilion Hammonton Lake Park for an event with the National Hispanic Latino Association of the Deaf on September 24 , from 10 a . m . to 5 p . m .
• George Daly of Heroes on the Water : Woods-n-Water event at Hammonton Lake Park on September 3 , from 10 a . m . to 3 p . m . The items were approved . While presenting the report from the Lake Water Quality Advisory Committee , Commissioner Shawn McCloud said that , though that body did not have an August meeting , he spoke with several members of the committee regarding the possibility of a joint meet-
