“We’re on our second round of tree removal and it should be done within the next
couple weeks. Using the ongoing street
sweeping crew will help keep the roadways
as clean as possible,” Furgione said.
Furgione also spoke thoroughly about a
remediation project led by South Jersey Gas
that he said is “getting closer as the town finalizes some agreements with South Jersey
Gas.” There are small amounts of construction needed on multiple buildings located
on Lincoln Street which will be paid for by
South Jersey Gas and likely close Lincoln
Street during this time. Residents can expect a special meeting that will take place
in late 2015 or early 2016 that will include
the Hammonton Environmental Commission, Hammonton Town Council, and various representatives from South Jersey Gas.
This meeting will provide a complete presentation of what can be expected from the
various contractors doing the project.
Furgione provided an update on the lake
water quality and said that the Clean-Flo
system is working “sporadically.” There
will be a public forum in November where
residents will discuss and voice their ideas
