Ron Fisher , owner of Ron ’ s Gardens , also owns and operates a location at 959 14th St . in Hammonton but said he notices a lot of people from all over the country visiting the Farley Service Plaza location , which is an example of what Jersey Fresh defines as “ agri-tourism .”
“ That ’ s a consistent theme , the customers are from far away . They ’ re surprised at how many different things are grown locally ... People who come from Canada don ’ t realize how many blueberries are grown right here ,” Ron Fisher said . New Jersey Eighth Legislative District Assemblywoman Maria Rodriguez-Gregg also appeared at the Jersey Fresh tour stop . Rodriguez-Gregg said shopping at establishments like Ron ’ s Gardens not only supports local , small businesses , but it helps support the brand that is Jersey Fresh , which represents the quality of New Jersey produce .
“ It ’ s also an excellent way to promote local agriculture . I think that ’ s the biggest thing when you have that logo . You ’ re not only getting great quality , but it ’ s reminding you that it was grown here and it markets our local agriculture ,” Rodriguez-Gregg said .
