HAMMONTON—Police made
several arrests last week, includ-
ing th e following, Hammonton
Det. Sgt. Edward Slimm said.
• On July 18 at 2:33 p.m.,
Christopher Funk, 44, of Mon-
roeville, was arrested on a warrant
for driving while suspended,
Slimm said. He paid the $1,000
fine and was released, Slimm said.
Officer William Kurz was the ar-
resting officer, Slimm said.
• On July 18 at 12:45 p.m.,
Felix Ortiz, 43, of Atlantic City,
was arrested by police, Slimm
said.
“He was walking around the
parking lot in front of the police
department and was found to have
a warrant from Atlantic City in the
amount of $100,” Slimm said.
Ortiz was released on his own
recognizance pending a new court
date following his arrest by Offi-
cer Jason Rigby, Slimm said.
• On July 19 at 9:36 p.m., at the
corner of 12th and N. Washington
Streets, Joseph Tiralli, 26, of
Hammonton, was arrested, Slimm
said.
“He was picked up for several
active warrants. He had eight war-
rants in total, amounting to
$5,372,” Slimm said.
Tiralli was placed in the At-
lantic County Jail following his
arrest by Officer Kyle Am-
brozaitis.
• On July 21 at 1:47 p.m.,
Rafael Figueroa, 36, of Hammon-
ton, was arrested for burglary after
an investigation revealed he had
stolen four F-150 rims valued at
$1,780 from a business on the 300
block of N. Washington Street,
Slimm said.
“Through investigation and an
interview, he admitted to taking
the property,” Slimm said.
Sgt. Thomas Percodani was the
arresting officer, Slimm said.
• On July 22 at 12:26 a.m., at
the intersection of 13th Street and
N. Egg Harbor Road, Emerson
Garcia, 18, of Hammonton, was
arrested for driving while under
the influence of alcohol (DWI),
Slimm said.
“He was stopped for a motor
vehicle violation and found to be
driving while under the influ-
ence,” Slimm said.
Garcia was charged with DWI,
reckless driving, unlicensed
driver, failure to maintain lane,
open container of alcohol in a ve-
hicle, two failure to exhibit docu-
ments and one uninsured motorist
charge, Slimm said.
Officer Brandan Campbell was
the arresting officer, Slimm said.
• On July 23 at 10:49 p.m.,
Brandon Pizarro, 31, of Waterford
Twp., was arrested on an outstand-
ing warrant from Hammonton for
$1,000, Slimm said.
“He was picked up in Camden
and turned over to the Hammon-
ton Police Department,” Slimm
said.
Slimm said Officer Renzo Men-
doza was the arresting officer.
Pizarro was taken to the Atlantic
County Jail, Slimm said.

On February 20, 2017, at 11:54
p.m., Hammonton Police re-
sponded to a suspicious vehicle in
the rear parking lot of a shopping
plaza at 85 S. White Horse Pike,
the release said. Police ap-
proached the vehicle and saw
Guerrero and an 11-year-old fe-
male inside the car, the release
said.
According to the press release,
police asked Guerrero if the juve-
nile female was related to him and
he said yes. Police asked if the de-
fendant was dating the girl and he
said yes, the release from the
prosecutor’s office said. Guerrero
said they were in the car at the
parking lot because they couldn’t
go to their homes because of their
age difference, the release said.
Further investigation by Ham-
monton Police and ACPO Special
Victims Unit Det. Dan Choe de-
termined that Guerrero was in a
dating relationship with the juve-
nile female, the press release
stated. Guerrero admitted having
kissed and touched the buttocks of
the juvenile female, according to
the press release.
Guerrero has been detained on
these charges since his arrest on
February 20, 2017, the press re-
lease said.
According to the release, the
case is being prosecuted by Chief
Prosecutor John Flammer.
In other ACPO news, a Mullica
Twp. man has been convicted of
murder, in connection to the
shooting death of his wife at their
home in 2014, Atlantic County
First Assistant Prosecutor Cary
Shill announced on July 19 in a
press release.
On July 19, following a six-day
trial before an Atlantic County
Superior Court Judge John R.
Rauh, Sergio DeRosa was found
guilty of murder in the shooting
death of his wife, 57-year-old
Lynn DeRosa, the release stated.
DeRosa faces a sentence of 30
years to life in a New Jersey state
prison and must serve a minimum
of 30 years, according to the re-
lease. DeRosa will return for sen-
tencing on September 7, 2017, the
release said.
On May 26, 2014, at 9:24 a.m.,
the Mullica Twp. Police re-
sponded to 4901 Pleasant Mills
Road for a 911 report of the shoot-
ing death of Lynn DeRosa, 57, of
that address, the release said. The
Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Of-
fice Major Crimes Unit also re-
sponded, according to the release.
The release stated that an au-
topsy performed on May 27,
2014, by Dr. Marianne Hamel, of
the Southern Regional Medical
Examiner’s Office, determined
the cause of death to be a shotgun
wound to the head, and the man-
ner of death: homicide.
On September 27, 2016, an At-
lantic County Grand Jury indicted
DeRosa for murder, for purposely
or knowingly causing the death of
his wife, Lynn DeRosa, the re-
lease said. This indictment super-
seded a previous indictment that
was handed down by an Atlantic
County Grand Jury in September
2015 for manslaughter by reck-
lessly causing the death of his
wife, according to the release.

DeRosa alleged he accidentally
shot his wife while cleaning his
gun, the release said.
Following the murder indict-
ment, DeRosa was free on
$150,000 bail, with the stipulation
that he may not leave the State of
New Jersey, and was required to
wear a GPS location monitoring
device, the release said. DeRosa
was taken into custody on July 19,
following the announcement of
the guilty verdict, according to the
press release.
The case was prosecuted by
Chief Assistant Prosecutor Seth
Levy and at the direction of Shill,
the release said.
Items stolen
from several
vehicles

HAMMONTON—Several un-
locked vehicles had cash and valu-
ables removed from them during
overnight hours last week, accord-
ing to Det. Sgt. Edward Slimm.
• During the overnight hours be-
tween July 20 and July 21, an un-
locked vehicle parked in the
victim’s driveway on N. Liberty
Street was the subject of a theft,
Slimm said.
“The individual or individuals
stole his wallet, which contained
numerous IDs and $50 in cash,”
Slimm said.
Cpl. Richard Jones was the in-
vestigating officer, Slimm said.
• Sometime between 11 p.m. on
July 19 and 10:20 a.m. on July 20,
an unlocked vehicle on the 200
block of Park Avenue was burglar-
ized, Slimm said.
“They said that $1,000 in cash
and a $200 watch was taken from
the vehicle,” Slimm said.
Cpl. James Pinto was the inves-
tigating officer, Slimm said.
• Sometime between 7:30 p.m.
on July 18 and 6:47 a.m. on July
