Being in the Public Works Department for 29 years , Rivera has come across just about everything you can imagine and then some that have been put out for removal . Rivera want residents to keep in mind that the items are being removed manually while making sure that everyone is safe .
“ We ’ ve had residents put out to the curb for removal such as boats , RV ’ s , buildings , disassembled vehicles , engines , transmissions and radioactive material . Residents are asked to keep in mind that we are manually removing the bulky from the curbside . We always want to make sure we are safe , while removing what is permissible ,” Rivera said .
Rivera also shared some tips and advice for residents to keep in mind when placing your bulky waste for pickup so that it makes the public works employees ’ jobs easier . Tips include putting your items out before 6 a . m . and that it is not blocked by toter trash cans or vehicles in a clear and visible area .
“ Items you place outside look different from the street than it does from a moving vehicle as we pass by . We make every effort to remove your items in a timely manner in the most efficient way possible . When items aren ’ t out on time , it affects the other residents of the town as it delays the removal process down . We fully understand the benefits from this service that many communities no longer provide and we want to make it a smooth process for everyone ,” Rivera said .

The information on the website is always up to date for all of the services as Rivera stated that misinformation gets posted on social media networks , which causes confusion , which then creates extra work for residents as well as the town employees . Rivera advised those who have an elderly neighbor and / or resident to lend a helping hand to get something out to the curb that they may not be able to themselves .
