Carmel cele- bration began, residents and mem- bers of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society congregated out- side of the society’s hall for a spe- cial Mass in honor of another suc- cessful feast Week, which was fol- lowed by the dedication of the new marble statue of Our Lady of Mt. Dedicated 2017” in honor of the members of the society that have come and gone over the past 142 years, members who preserved the sanc- tity of feast Week each year and helped maintain it as the proud tra- dition it is today. “Our ancestors who gave us this dedication and pledge of our devo- tion to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, without them, we wouldn’t be here today. One hundred forty-two years ago, this took place and we’re very proud of them,” Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society Presi- dent Louis J. Pantalone said. the statue is not the first monu- ment dedicated to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel — there is also an Our Lady of Mt. Carmel headstone lo- cated on Pine road near the former home of the celebration’s founder, Antonio Capelli.
